The Fox and Hounds is a gastropub with 8 ensuite rooms located in the idyllic and tranquil village of Llancarfan. We are within easy reach of Cardiff (15 mins), Cowbridge (10 mins), Barry (10 mins) and Cardiff Airport (10 mins). It overlooks St Cadoc's Ch
We visited the fox and hounds with friends on a Saturday evening after reading the positive reviews on this site, albeit the majority of reviews were for Sunday lunch. The dining area is very small and although some may call it intimate it felt like we were eating in our front room and lacked any atmosphere. We had to wait a long time to order and our starters didnât come for half an hour even though there were only two other tables being served. The soup was tasty and our friendsâ salmon was good. We again had a long wait for our main courses. I had rib eye steak which was average at best. Our friends had the Fried Hake which was very small. At no stage either at our table or when paying our bill at the bar were we asked how our meals were or whether we wanted another drink. Either the bed and breakfast at the fox and hounds is the priority for the management or the couple in charge, neither of whom were smartly dressed, need to improve their customer service.Dear ltj-1964We choose not to reply to any of our reviews (good or bad) as we appreciate that this a platform for diners to express their personal options. However I am compelled to reply to you as you have chosen to comment about my husband and I on a personal level. On the night that you dined, my husband, who is the head chef, was tucked away in the kitchen (wearing his chef whites) and I was unfortunately at home, tucked up in bed due to illness. I'm afraid to say that you did not meet either of us.The front of house staff who you refer to in your review are 2 of our supervisors. I'm sorry if you think our chosen uniform of jeans and trainers are not smart enough. We believe that what our team wear is in keeping with our establishment; we are, after all, a family friendly village pub.

The Six Bells Inn has all the character, charm & looks of a traditional village inn, situated in the picturesque village of Penmark. With it's roaring log fires and its warm and inviting interior, it is the perfect place to escape from the long winter mon
We were very pleasantly surprised...the pub looks not a lot from outside..even a bit run down...We found this place in "BritStop" book & were planning to take motor home but changed mind at last minute.Inside its newly refurbed and very nice. I had a starter of Fishcakes hubby had calamari... he asked a Q about his starter & immediately it was replaced ... Calamari like the fish cake was very nice. The main courses Lamb Rump & Ribeye were better than I've had in Cardiff restaurants & the portions were huge.. CHIPS TO DIE FOR !! sauces with both meats exceptionally tasty ....We had plans for desserts & chessboard but "eyes bigger than bellies" we shared a cheesecake which again was a large good quality portion of food.Very reasonably priced wine list & menu ..Highly recommend... we will be back with our Motor home...no taxis or need to drive ... We wish you well in your business...Thank you x

First and foremost, our pub is a thriving local watering hole that has been keeping localsâ thirst at bay for over 300 years. We have a range of great ales, interesting wines, homemade seasonal drinks and a small, daily changing bar menu. Alongside the ba
We heard about this place through recommendations so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed the whole evening was fantastic. The dining area is cosy and welcoming thereâs a great atmosphere. The staff especially Tom and the Chefs were wonderful to us. Made us feel really welcome and looked after us. They are friendly and professional but not pretentious in any way. Thatâs exactly how it should be Food was amazing. We went for the taster menu. Every course was tasty and the matching wines were well chosen. A fantastic evening and one we will remember for a long time. Thanks to the Hare and Hounds. Highly recommend

The Blue Anchor Inn was one of the first pubs in South Wales to produce quality bar meals back in the 1980's. Since then we have gone from strength to strength, winning awards including the South Wales Food Pub of the year for four years,2013, 2011, 2008

Please get some custard for the plum and apple crumble missed out on that one. Parking on site. Nice sunny beer garden. Sunday roast is good also.

A traditional Welsh Countryside pub & restaurant in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan rural village of Llanmaes. Serving Real Ales, a wide selection of wines, Contemporary homemade food and a warm Welsh welcome .
We were not sure what to expect but Sunday roast beef was delicious and plentiful. Veg was fresh, roasties were crisp and yorkies homemade. Gravy was also tasty and lots of it. Weâd arrived without booking and staff accommodated us easily. A nice mix of locals and visitors and a few friendly dogs. It was a lovely way to spend an autumn Sunday afternoon.Very pleased you enjoyed your visit, thank you for the fab comments, hope you'll visit again soon.

The Carne Arms Llysworney is another pub serving great food, with great atmosphere from Newmill Ventures Ltd. We also have the Star Inn Treoes and THe Ivor Arms in Brynsadler, each serving great pub food with high standards. We look forward to giving you
First visit under the new management. I ordered chicken breast with mozzarella and jalapeños which was served with chips and salad garnish. When the meal arrived it was actually a chicken burger with âplasticâ type chicken in a very dry bread roll. So disappointing as nowhere on the menu does it say it is a burger. Had I known this I would not have ordered it. The chips and salad garnish were ok, the cheesecake dessert was delicious. I would go again but please Carne Arms get the menu right. Also online menu states 2 for £12 but again did not see this on the menu in the pub. Hopefully these are teething problems.
