Today I used a Gift Voucher for Afternoon Tea for two here. We were very warmly welcomed, offered tea or coffee, and directed to our table. The whole atmosphere was warm and enjoyable. The sandwiches arrived swiftly, crusts removed, neatly cut and well presented. I think there were fifteen substantial sandwiches with six different fillings. My husband and I were both given a cake stand with very tempting cakes and a fruit scone with cream and a small jar of jam.Little things matter, my cafetiére was the size one would normally get for two people, and my husband had a large pot of tea. Staff, including the manager checked that we had everything we needed. We also had the option of a 'doggy bag'.What I particularly appreciated is that Afternoon Tea commences from 12 noon. My husband has diabetes and cannot have 'treats' mid-afternoon, so we were able to substitute this as a meal. Great! For £30 for two of us, this is very good value for money. Excellent food, attentive but not intrusive staff, and a lovely place to visit.

I was really disappointed with the meal and service. This meal was very basic and bland. The pulled pork panini was dry as was my cheese one. The prices were too high for what you got. The staff were too busy standing behind the bar talking and we had to call them over. For what we had which should have taken ten minutes we waited for 45 minutes.my daughter asked for an orange juice and was given orange squash in a tall glass which was in suitable for a 2 year old.we were in there so long {over 2hours} she had to make arrangements for picking her son up from school. We thought the sweets would be fine but this was also no better. A small amount of sponge in the bottom of a glass with ice cream and cream on the top. This was over priced by at least £2.50. No wonder it was nearly empty. I recommend getting a proper cook and lowering prices.. This was for a special occasion, shame this was notThis was meant to b

Just stopped here on the way back down south, meeting family for breakfast. The full English was excellent; meaty sausages and good bread to tip my beans and egg on top of. Great farm shop next door too which sells a million gins and lots of yummy things. Would definitely stop here again when meeting the Lake District branch of the family.
