On visiting Hereford after over 30 years thought we would try what was our old local for lunch.Obviously changed a lot.Unfortunately the lunch did not come up to expectations. One of us had gammon ok but to salty same for the fish & chips. Two had the homemade pie again very salty ,mash sort of lumped on the plate and the cabbage was cut with all the stalks still on could not eat it.Service not top notch either.

Needing a place to eat and drink after a hard days fishing at nearby canon bridge we came upon this lovely pub in the wilds of Herefordshire. great welcome, great beer and good pub food. Prawn cocktails and mushrooms on toast were excellent starters and the mains- burgers, curry and fish and chips were our generous choices - so generous none of us could finish. Really friendly waitress explained to us how to get back to Hereford via Bridge Sollers but when we got there the road was closed - never mind - we retraced our steps back to Hereford another way via some narrow roads. Had lovely chats with the friendly locals too.Pub has its own boules 'court' outside which was the scene of some very competitive matches.

My wife and I dropped in today to have lunch and chose a dish called Willyâs (hope I got the name correct!) chicken and rice with chips. It was very disappointing when food was served: a measly portion of rice and a handful of chips with chicken curry in a Balti dish with a few âhome cookedâ prawn crackers. Chicken curry was tasteless, the portion of rice and chips enough to feed a child and the so called home cooked prawn crackers were hard! May be because we were touring Hereford and couldnât find a better place to eat out, we ended up going to The Wellington. Frankly, I cannot recommend it to anyone nor would I wish to eat out there again. Simply, itâs not value for money!
