The food is as Canadian as the soil it's grown in. Our chef has pulled inspiration from the culture that surrounds us, it is rustic yet contemporary. Visit Chef Jesse at the interactive charcuterie bar for some locally cured meats and handcrafted charcute
I finally checked out this restaurant over the weekend and what a beautiful spot. The decor and vibe was splendid. The menu all looked amazing and what I did end up choosing was tasty. The only down side was that the service was lacking. Our server didn't seem to be around much and when she was there, seemed overwhelmed. However, that won't stop me from trying this restaurant again.

Gainsbourg is a bistro restaurant and microbrewery located at 9, rue Aubry, in the historic district of Old Hull, Gatineau, in the Outaouais region. Our place is all about the pleasures of good food and drink in a pub style establishment; the pleasures of
We were celebrating our youngest daughter's 18th birthday, so we took across the river to "Hull" (where the legal drinking age is 18). It's been many years since I hung out at the bars and discos along the infamous promenade du Portage, and they're all long gone, replaced by a few restaurants and offices. Just around the corner (I think the old Chez Henri used to located there) is Aubry, home to several bistros and bars. We were hoping for a spot on the patio but it was all full at 6:30 on a Sunday evening, so we sat inside. Gainsbourg brews many of the beers on their menu and I tried the coffee porter and the white stout: both were excellent. We started with a charcuterie board that had pork, duck, cheeses and crackers. These boards are often expensive for the amount of food provided, but Gainsbourg delivered good quantity and value for a reasonable price. For mains, we went with burgers and I was hoping for the mussels but they were out. I opted instead for the wings, which were available in two sizes. I was hungry and went for the 12 wing option. It turned out to be at least 16 full wings (drumstick and flats and whatever those little tips are called). I'd estimate it to be a good 5 pounds of wings. Very tasty, but damn....that's a lot of wings. When we got the bill, pretty much every drink was on special: the girls had cocktails for $8, the 20-ounce coffee porter was just 3.99. Service was good: the food came quickly and was hot and you can't fault them over the pricing or portion size.

We went to this place on a Saturday when they serve brunch ( also on Sunday) and not on any other days of the week. They open at 10am and we were in line waiting for them to open. Once inside below street level its a very cozy pub which on this date became quickly full with people that wanted breakfast. We received excellent service, great choices for breakfast, and once our food arrived it was easily one of the best breakfast experience we have had in this city. Its a cult we were told about those that show up on the week end to enjoy this service and we will be part of it while in Ottawa.

The Heart and Crown has been around since 1992, it stretches a full city block. With 6 bars within the building, it's as if you're touring an Irish Village. They provide standard Irish fare as well as some Canadian classics. It is a great place to people-
Our disinterested server seemed bother by questions about the menu. After a half hour wait in an empty restaurant our food was served. The Guinness Sausage dinner was dry, over cooked chewy and tough, the mashed potatoes thin and the broccoli under cooked. The chicken salad looked like it was pre-prepared at the grocery store and the chicken was also over cooked and dry. One of the worst restaurant meals We've ever had! The waitress never asked how the food was, she either knew it was bad, just didn't care or both!
