That place seems to be a traditional beer restaurant with a solid food selection. I recommend to try one of their "Gulasch" that goes nicely with a Stiegl beer. Really nice atmosphere, which is a mix of old charm and traditional beer joint.

Good quality standard Austrian Gasthaus fare. A few Thai dishes. From Monday to Friday is offered a cheap menu, mostly consisting of a soup and a main course, but which does not include beverages. The downtown place has a fine court with wine growing on the walls. A nice place to have a meal during the hot season. The entrance to the court faces the Town Hall and is to the right of the restaurant entrance. You can park your bike in the court entrance hall. Most of the time the friendly owner will take your order and serve your meal.

We adored the Restaurant Prandtauerhof! As my photos show, we ate in a charming, flower filled courtyard and the food was inventive and delicious. The decor was fresh, stylish and colorful. It seemed like a place where upscale locals go. (There were no tour buses.)There was also a wine tasting room on site where they were glad to offer complimentary wine tastings. I also noticed in their brochure that they have a few rooms for rent and I would like to try that one day!All in all, an exquisite place to have a meal and enjoy superb food/wine in the Wachau.

We worked up quite a thirst hiking to see the castle ruins in Durnstein. After getting back into town, we were very happy to find the Cafe Durnstein and very much enjoyed their Eiskaffee. Enjoy!

We stopped at this quaint and cozy restaurant on our way to the Melk Abbey and the Wachau wineries. We were greeted by the staff (or maybe the owner) who was able to communicate in English and responded to our questions. The service was very courteous. The food was fresh and tasty. Our party of six had four beers, one tea and one bottle of water to drink. The Surrkolette is rib meat, that was very tasty. The fish (Zanderfilet) was cooked perfectly and the platting was beautifully done. My wife had a cheese platter with good balance and variety. Zwettler beer Dunkles was exceptional. Our tab for six was 91 euros which was very reasonable.
