Channels Bar & Brasserie has recently been fully refurbished, to create the ultimate new destination dining bar & restaurant in Chelmsford. Youâll dine on the very finest locally sourced produce crafted into stunning rustic fine dining menus by their tale
Made a late booking and were acommodated due to a cancellation. We have previously had the breakfast which was really nice so we're anticipating the same for lunch.Seated very quickly a table for 2 by friendly staff.I ordered the roast beef which was cooked to perfection, rare and melt in the mouth.Vegetables were varied and cooked just how I like it,Yorkshire pudding was soft in the inside with a crisp shell....perfect.Gravy was delicious and thick. My wife had the scampi which she said was really tasty.Reset was apple crumble with custard and ice cream why could go wrong ...nothing and it was lovely.Cappuccino followed in the small seated area next to the bar .Pretty good value for money as the quality of food was exceptional. We have had many Sunday lunches in various restaurants and this has to be one of the best.Lovely location easy parking I highly reccomend. It was good to learn that a favourable experience of breakfast at Channels Bar & Brasserie had now been followed by a Sunday lunch receiving similar plaudits and we are very grateful for this review.

Whether you are with us for lunch or dinner, we provide a friendly, vibrant atmosphere amongst very eclectic surroundings.
We travelled from Snowdonia, North Wales for a celebration lunch with family, we were a table of 20 of all ages from 18 months right up to 80âs. We could not have enjoyed our little grandsons 3rd birthday more. The waitresses were superb - smiling, efficient and above all polite. The food was absolutely delicious. Excellent value for money too. Well worth the round trip of 520 miles and now on our way back to Wales feeling like weâve had a really lovely day - I expect weâll be back again soon as The Lion has become a favourite with the Essex branch of the family!HelloThank you so much for your wonderful comments, having driven so far I'm delighted that you can wholeheartedly say it was worth the journey.Your waitresses, Diana and Steph, having read your review wanted to add some comments of their own: We so enjoyed meeting you all, it was a pleasure to help you all celebrate. We hope the family 'after party' was a great success. Come back and see us again soon.Regards

The Fox & Goose offers several dining areas; a mixture of old and new. There is also outside seating in pretty surroundings for warmer days. Original features have been restored alongside contemporary additions that form the Gastro Pub that stands today.
13 people and 1 child for 6pm dinner for my 60th birthday on Saturday 31st-Aug. Staff were really nice and helpful and did not rush anybody. Tab was set up immediately for drinks for the party, so I did not have to worry about that. Not many starters were ordered but the mains were all served within a few minutes of eachother. There were several Veggie and Vegans for dinner and this was one of the main reasons I chose this pub, I have been here before and I also checked out the menus online beforehand so I knew that there were several options for the Veggies. The quality of food was very good and I can reccommend the lamb rump. I would certainly visit again. Another bonus was the option to have some dishes as a small starter or a larger main course. The staff made it a very enjoyable evening. Many thanks to you all.

A hidden gem in the heart of this pretty Essex Village. The Folly Bistro has a reputation for wonderful customer service in a traditional setting, styled with a contemporary twist. Food here is freshly cooked using local ingredients by our talented Chefs
Completely lost itâs way. Used to be a village pub/bistro that was welcoming to all, walkers, bikers, cyclists but it has now become something itâs not. The front beer garden is now cluttered and adorned with garish gazebos and tiny tables, not very welcoming to those without a booking. All beer & cider pumps have now been removed and hugely overpriced bar and food prices. Itâs a real shame The Folly used to be a great addition to East Hanningfield, now ruined by ill thought management discussions. We would recommend visiting The Windmill in South Hanningfield (about 2 miles away), far more welcoming, excellent food at a reasonable price and staying true to its village pub roots. The Folly management could take a leaf out of their âhow to run a businessâ book.
