The restaurant "The Sweet Escape" has opened its doors this Wednesday 1st July to 580, rue Marcel D'Assault in Calais, in the heart of Marcel Doret area. We are only waiting for you! This restaurant, with modern decor, is welcoming and friendly and wants
Right in the heart of an industrial estate on the out skirts of Calais. We stumbled across this small French cafe by complete accident. And we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch there. Typical French lunch menu, with very friendly service and open all day even on Sundays!Ideal stop on the way to and from the ferry or tunnel. A bit difficult to find maybe, but a delight.Recommended, definately will return.

Had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant last weekend with my family. Been here many times before but this was our first time in the new location. The food was the usual high standard, tasty and beautifully presented. The new restaurant and location is perfect and the decor is very welcoming and tastefully done. Can't wait to return.

La Mer restaurant in the midst of Calais most popular tourist area wears its culinary heart right on its sleeve. This warm, traditional restaurant the sibling of La Sole Meuniere serves nothing but fish and fruits de mer, including twelve different kinds
I have eaten here many times over the years, and the service has normally been much better than this. For some reason my card declined - the same card I have used all week, all over Calais ... no attempt to understand or be receptive, I was somewhat summarily dismissed when I asked if there was a problem. I paid cash, which was fortunate, as I did not carry very much - and left, probably not to return on my next visit. The food is good, but not great enough for this level of disinterest. Would be worth remembering that tourists are at the mercy of the financial elements as much as the restaurateurs.

Stopped here for lunch on day trip to Calais. Food was outstanding, beautifully prepared and well-presented. The three prix fixe menus offered limited but good choice of food. The little extras were provided by the things that were not on the menus, the mises en bouche, the bread, the little extras with coffee, etc. Service was attentive and good. I wish we could eat like this in the UK without paying silly money and being pretentious.

"La Tourello" is a reasoned Bistronomic Restaurant that offers its customers a worked and creative local food in a convivial environment.
An unassuming building, but busy and comfortable inside. We all had the menu at 29 euros. The creme brulee was a very unusual starter. The orange sauce with the chicken was a previously untried combination. Cafe courmands to finish. Presentation, service and cooking were all good.
