We had lunch in this very pleasant restaurant opposite the beach. It was hot and we were looking for shade so we chose to eat inside. The restaurant was busy and there was a good atmosphere. Service was good and so was the food.It was good quality for money.

The only pity is that we discovered that place the last night! Café Cezanne is a new gem in the beach front area that is less visited at night...we always went towards the port area but this will change in the future! The cozy atmosphere and friendly and attentive service were just just added bonus as the food was simply delicious. So many tempting dishes on the menu...many named after paintings of Cezanne. Great creations using local and fresh ingredients cooked to perfection. At least for us it was quite a feast. We got tempted and my wife had the frogs legs, and I enjoyed the warm Camembert with truffles...oh my what an explosion of flavors! Loup and Daurade as our mains...full of the Provence aroma and just so tasty. Basil lemon tart to end...it was perfect. Saint Joseph red wine to enjoy all along....all while looking at the peaceful Mediterranean Sea in front of us. Cafe Cezanne is a great quality addition to the restaurants selection in Le Lavandou and it is most welcomed! We will come back.

There's no doubt that the best thing about this place is the location, in a pretty courtyard amongst the alleyways of Le Lavandou, set back a little way from the sea front. More than half the available tables are outside. We visited on a Sunday evening and had not made a booking (the more highly-rated places were all full). We were offered a table in the alleyway which benefits from electric radiant heaters. Service was fast but charmless. There's an extensive menu. We went for the Menu Mediterranne(â¬32) and the Menu Lavandou (â¬26). A bottled beer (IPA) was â¬5.80 and a 50cl bottle of sparkling mineral water (Perrier) was â¬3.50.Unfortunately, the food was very poor. This is tourist catering on a large scale and it showed. Food was not freshly prepared but seemed like it came from a conveyor belt. Which is a good analogy for this place, as a whole. Get 'em in, feed them poor quality dishes and then get them out again. Flavours were lacking, textures were dull and lifeless. My lamb tagine was full of bones while my wife's fish had been cooked to death and was full of bones. The fruit salad and ice cream was perhaps the highlight of our meal. Most of the puddings were covered with spray cream. We have had many better meals in Le Lavandou. The moral of this tale is: book (somewhere better) in advance!Overall bill for three courses, two people, came to â¬67.30 without wine.
