Borehamwood (/ˌbɔːrəmˈwʊd/—originally spelt Boreham Wood), is a town in southern Hertfordshire. It is a commuter town near Watford and London, situated 12 miles (19 km) from Charing Cross. Borehamwood has a population of 31,074, and is within the civil parish of Elstree and Borehamwood and the London commuter belt. There is one weekly newspaper, the Borehamwood and Elstree Times. The town is perhaps most well known for its film and TV studios, commonly known as Elstree Studios, hence the association with Elstree.

After about a year of not having visited we arrived on Thursday night for an early supper with a visiting member of the family. I booked the table in the restaurant part . Despite all the doors being wide open ( summer) the room had an unpleasant stale smell of food often present in food places not thoroughly cleaned/ repainted often enough. Wooden tables were clean. The mezze board to share before the main meal. Carrot and cucumber sticks were dried on edges clearly cut much arlier and left uncovered in the kitchen, baked haloumi sticks were commercially pre-preprepared and did not taste freshly baked. Dips barely visible under the vegetables. Mains were fine. Staff was as helpful and as good as I remember from previous visits.Good morning, We can only apologise for the stale odour that you experienced. This is not something that we come across very often and are disappointed that it affected your evening. The pub is deep cleaned every morning by professional cleaners and we take great pride in its overall appearance and the ambience this creates. With regards to the mezze board - we are disappointed to hear that you found the ingredients to not be as fresh as they should. We have have spoken to the kitchen to ensure that our quality is not compromised like this again as this is not acceptable. Regarding the halloumi chips we can assure you that these are hand cut, on site, from blocks of halloumi and then cooked to order. We are sorry if they were not as you expected. Ate here with friends on our trip to London and surrounding areas, food was excellent as was the service from Maria who could brighten a dull room with her smile and personality, nothing was a problem and was super attentive, our night was enjoyable there, I had to pay with cash as I had a problem with my debit card, on leaving I was very disappointed to hear that Maria's manager wouldn't accept the cash that I paid her as they were Clydesdale Bank or not Bank of England notes.Maria although slightly distressed said "please dont worry, I will sort it out even if I have to exchange it myself".What is it with England and non Bank of England notes???Yvonneandymel,Thank you for deciding to dine with us whilst visiting London and the surrounding areas.We are genuinely pleased and over the moon to hear that you received fantastic food and service!Just to clarify we do accept all forms of legal tender pound sterling. Hubby & I nipped in here for a drink as we had a wander around Elstree! At the time it was somewhat cut off as the road itâs on was closed, we found it by chance as we headed away from the retail park situated just behind it. The decor is lovely plus there is a nicely contained beer garden with the old stables of the property fitted out with tables and long benches-very quaint! Staff were friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit-worth a visit if youâre in the area!

Turned up on a Sunday and had a great meal with the family. I jokingly asked for something off the menu and surprisingly it came out with the meal and was lovely. Booked a table for 4 on the telephone. Warm and friendly voice (Alistair I think) given a seat whilst we awaited arrivals of other guests. A drink in hand and advised to order meals at the Bar. Service was Good and attentative, food was fresh, tasty and plentiful. We spent a lovely afternoon and was not rushed. Went in there for the first time today and will definitely be going back again. The staff were attentive and welcoming, especially Adele who was full of smiles and made sure all was alright. The food was amazing and so tasty also very reasonable
