Llamas, sheep and alpacas roam the plains of Puno, a port city in southeastern Peru. Their fleeces are used to make the area’s signature textiles, which make excellent souvenirs. You’ll do a lot of walking here, as many of the streets are too steep for cars. But the climbs are worth it for the excellent views of Lake Titicaca. Take a boat to the Floating Islands or get up close and personal with the four-legged locals at a llama farm.

The Incabar Salon was our unofficial treehouse from which we comfortably observed three days of the Candalaria celebration in Puno. We started with a drink one evening, came back for a meal the next day by the third day had rented a balcony table for an entire 12 hours of celebration. During that time the staff was friendly, the service was prompt, and the various meals we enjoyed were fine.Meanwhile, the parade continued beneath our window and we enjoyed our perch above the festivities on the Plaza de Armas.

Perhaps we haven't been trying hard enough, but in this place we finally found a real restaurant! The food was great! It was creative, well cooked, well presented, tasted excellent, and wasn't smothered in cheese! The atmosphere was fairly plain, but the service was good and overall we have a very enjoyable meal. We had the Lomo Saltado, Andian chicken, and the spicy chocolate mouse, all of which we recommend. Dear Mr. Brown, thank you for your excellent comments and we are glad of having provided a good service, your opinion will help us to improve our infrastructure, we expect your prompt visit.attentivelyAparicio Cesar AbarcaGeneral Manager
Where to eat Latin food in Puno: The Best Restaurants and Bars
We were craving some home style comfort food and called here for club sandwiches, chicken gougons and chips. The food was excellent in well-presented large portions. Although our order probably would be classified as âfast foodâ the meals were certainly cooked to order and were of top quality. Sadly, we were the only people in that particular evening which made for a bit of a flat atmosphere but didnât detract from the quality of the meals.

Quinua restaurant offers a new proposal in Peruvian food and drinks highlighting ingredients of our Andean culture in a cozy atmosphere in the very center of the city. Our menu offers you Entries, dishes, desserts, pizzas and drinks.
Having arrived in Puno late on a wet and windy night, we were looking for a quick and easy meal before bed. Well, it was certainly quick...The positives: the head waiter was friendly and welcoming. The pizza oven. The negatives: everything else. On arrival, we were told we could only order small pizzas (to be fair, at a reduced price). We ordered two beers (one of which was also unavailable) and some water. These only arrived after some prompting and a significant delay - the water was lukewarm. The pizzas themselves were undercooked and largely flavourless. We left much of it uneaten. Overall, this restaurant clearly has good intentions and the staff were perfectly friendly. However, the service was very, very slow at times and the food was, I'm afraid, extremely poor.

A gentleman in the street invited us a free Pisco Sour if we enter to this restaurant. We agreed and had a very nice surprise. The restaurant's decoration is modest and cosy. You can have typical dishes or some of the Chef specialties, like the beef with a red wine sauce that I chose and was delicious. The price is fare for the food and service.
