Bao Brothers Eatery

Bao Brothers is an Asian inspired street food eatery located in Newcastle West. We specialise in Bao's - which translates to steamed bun in Taiwanese. Bao Brothers contemporary Asian flavors bring the street-food culture of Gua Bao's to a whole new level.

Reserve Wine Bar

We went here with a large group from work. All the food was good but some of the sides needed work i.e. we ordered broccoli which came out burnt once then again after we returned - it was deleted from bill without asking. Service was very good, for our large group we were not kept waiting. Wide selection of good wines.

Blooming Garden

We are a newly opened Australian/Asian fusion restaurant with a pinch of Korean. We promise that every plate served will offer a special experience. Check us out, you won't be disappointed. (Even our side salad is good)

We'd heard about Blooming Garden from our friends. They were faving about their experience there. So we wandered in, for dinner, on Friday night after a pre dinner drink @ The Blind Monk nearby. First impressions are a warm and welcoming staff. Our table staff & the chef welcomed us. The deco of the restaurant is clean and slick : concrete & wood, exposed steel girders with raw old brick feature walls. The space is softened with the use of green plants. The big glass doors leading out to a courtyard will offer a lovely space for summertime dining. But, as it is winter, we are cosy inside with heating. The menu surprised us with more formal dining plates, than we expected, with an interesting Asian twist. We just ordered mains on this visit but the entrees & desserts looked fabulous and are a must for our next visit when we are more hungry. I had the Lamb Shoulder. It was tender & tasty...a beautifully different spiced sauce surrounded the lamb (Korean inspired I later discovered). Delightful. My hubby had the Bulgogi Kimchi & it certainly lived up to our long term memories of Bulgogi from a trip to Sth Korea many years ago...authentic & fabulous. Our lovely waitress was a gorgeous & intelligent lady who offered information re the menu to help us decide what to have (an alluring menu so choosing was hard). As we were leaving, the staff & chef thanked us for coming. So friendly. A really lovely meal with elegant & friendly service. This is a mid range priced restaurant with a more formal class menu. ( from memory: Mains $24-$35 & Desserts under $15...entrees priced somewhere in between). I noticed a menu for mid- week lunches offering less than $15 main meals & fast service. We'll certainly be back. Just be aware that at present an alcohol license is yet to issued so it was BYO for our visit(which was fab for us as we could drop in to the nearby bottleshop & bring our fav wine).
