Reviews on French food in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Canada's largest metropolis, Vancouver is a city of varied landscapes and diverse population. Its mix of the scenic and urban mean that weekenders can spend the morning taking advantage of its beaches, ski mountains, and hiking trails, only to kick back in the evening at first-rate restaurants and wine bars among a labyrinth of skyscrapers. As friendly and welcoming as it is ethnically diverse, the streets are crowded with different languages being spoken everywhere, and the city's sights, sounds, and flavors are a hodgepodge of warm multiculturalism. It is a haven both for the urbanite and the sportsman, offering all the sophistication of a modern city center, with a strong focus on the arts and a burgeoning cafe culture, but with charming suburban outlets and easy outdoor day trips. Though the city is often split into three districts, Vancouver and its surrounding environs feature multiple neighbourhoods, each with their own character and draw, in one massive conglomeration. Take your time and explore as many of them as possible.

Second time at this great French restaurant and once again the food was delicious, the service excellent and the prices very reasonable. We had Coq au Vin, Canard and halibut bouillabaisse, followed by poached pear and lemon tart for dessert, all wonderfully prepared. We'll be back soon!

Terrific place for a special occasion meal. We chose the fixed price three course meal and could not have been more satisfied. Every morsel was delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. The dress code (business casual) helps provide a nice ambience, and the jazz band (plays on Wednesdays) was superb. The atmosphere was lively without being boisterous. You definately need reservations. By no means cheap, but sooo good.

Classic french food of the highest quality with wonderful service to match. Everything is done impeccably. My wife and I have been twice and would certainly go back again. The prices given the quality are very reasonable. A wine list to die for, and even the lowest priced bottles will make you happy with your choice.

A beautiful setting near the window, classy and relaxed, great attentive service but not over the top intrusive which is a tricky balance to pull off sometimes. really wide variety in the menu, plenty of seafood which was my main reason for attending this. Plus I was stopping at the hotel and the weather had drawn in so nice not to have to trek out.

Absinthe Bistro offers modern and classic french cooking on Commercial Drive
This movie star caliber owner couple-run place is well managed and highly recommendable as to both the quality and service, along with the values. I would be delighted to bring visitors to Vancouver to this place, where the couple are genuinely friendly. I always look for a small, family run restaurants which tend to cut corners to keep the prices at minimum yet providing quality meals.
