We visited this restaurant while staying overnight in le Chambon sur Lignon. What a find. The outside does not do it justice as it looks like a basic bar but the food was amazing. All local fare, beautifully and lovingly prepared and presented. It is a family run business and Philippe, the owner, was very welcoming. We both had starters, main course, cheese, apéros, excellent wine (red and white) digestif and coffee for the princely sun of 74 euros. Incredible !! And to cap it all as it started snowing Philippe drove us back to our hotel. We cannot recommend this restaurant high enough. It is a real find. Taken over by Philippe and his family only one year it is already a spectacular successThank you very much, you were happy to spend a moment in our establishment, and this is our great satisfaction, It was very nice to receive you at home. Come back when you want. Best regards. Philippe

Joli restaurant, plutôt typique. je vous conseille les criques (rapée de pomme de terre) .La charcuterie maison traditionnelle très bonne mais la viande était de qualité moyenne.

We just happened to have our lunch here without any plans. The terrace was full but inside dining room had more than enough room. And an awful amount of flies. We were just too tired of searching for another place for lunch. Menus were naturally only in French, but the staff spoke good English. Unfortunately the daily menu had been sold out, so we just chose the dishes that sounded interesting. And the proved to be tasty and good enough to keep the hunger away all day long. Nice experience.

We had lunch at the simple Restaurant Le Chataignier. I had the canillettes (porc meatballs with spinach) and Carol had ravioli with bleu cheese. Both dishes were loaded with flavor--extremely satisfying. The repast began with a sweet but very nice coupe ardechoise â a sparkling cremant still wine with chestnut syrup. The staff was fun and attentive. Locals and a French tour group, as well as our enjoyment, proved weâd made the right choice for lunch.

Great food, good value, lovely wines. Staff are very friendly and the service is prompt. The selection of vegetarian dishes could be improved, but they are willing to make something to order. I'll be back!

We were invited here by friends for a group lunch. The restaurant is set in woodland and surrounded by its putting greens. Unfortunately the day we visited it was raining so putting was not on our agenda. For fine days there is a pleasant terrace. There was a warm and friendly welcome and excellent service. The group were provided with a set menu with a choice of two main courses and a choice of white, rose and red wine. The food was well prepared and presented. The starter of melon and ham was excellent and as with all of the courses the portions were generous. My pork dish was excellent and the vegetable garnishes were perfect. The plated selection of desserts was very well received by all. All in all it was a very pleasant lunch time and I would not hesitate to return.

The Le bourbon hotel is very clean and well decorated, but a bit expensive at 70 euros per night. The restuarant is very good, the decore is delightful and the food very good if not a bit expensive. We expected the restuarant to be open more that it was. We arrived on Friday to be told that the restuarant was booked out the a group. We did eat their on Saturday, it was closed Sunday and Monday evening and we came home on Tuesday.
