We were directed here by our hotel on a quiet Monday night and at first thought it closed, because it was empty when we walked in. Service was prompt and friendly. Our meal was not cheap, but the food was very good and with big servings. I had the "Hamburger du moment", which came with blue cheese, salad and fries. Delicious. We shared a nice crème brûlée for dessert. The house wine was tasty. Worth a visit. Just behind the church on the main square.

We welcome you from Monday to Friday from 7.30 AM to 4 PM for your breakfast or your lunch in formula or à la carte. Our brewery cuisine is more traditional with fresh products for great classics of restoration revisited by our team of cooks. We also welc

We love small, charming, excellently run restaurants with wonderful food and this fit the bill perfectly. We arrived at 7:30 pm, opening time, without a reservation on a Tuesday night and it was fine. Service was superb and the prix fix menu was yum. Highly recommended.

We had an excellent meal Le Monocle. Our fish plate was expertly prepared and presented. The potion were ample. Desert was sumptuous. We learned about local Jourancon wines that paired excellently with our fish dish. Service was flawless. Prices were average for the area. I considered it good value.

The delicious food in each of the courses was paired with good wine. The service was excellent, staff always attentive to our needs, and the overall team was very welcoming. Good value considering the quality of the food and service. On top of that, there is a great atmosphere in a nicely designed restaurant. I would recommend this establishment not only for couples but also for family and friends!

It must have been 15 years ago that we discovered Daniel Labarrere, chef/patron of L'Ambroisie in Tarbes. His food was so good that we had lunch as often as we could (once a month, to put things into perspective). One day we asked for l'addition and didn't get it. M.Labarrere had decided lunch was on him! A couple of years ago he told us that he was going to retire. Fortunately his sous-chefs would stay and although we missed the man, we kept having wonderful lunches. Now he'a back in this new restaurant, re-united with Hiromi Mine and Hideyuki Kobayashi. From their names you'll get this couple is Japanese. To keep the (quite conservative) local happy they limit their influence, but I still remember the 6-course Japanese lunch they cooked me once for my birthday. We've now been twice to this new venture and love it. On weekdays the set lunch offers a choice of 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts for the very, very reasonable price of ⬠25 (incl 2 amuses and friandises). We can't wait for a Sunday lunch, to try the a la carte.

Very casual, very imaginative take on fast food done French style, the magret was superb, duck was tender, cooked just right and full of flavour. The owner works hard, made us very welcome despite us arriving late for lunch and keeping him open 35 mins past his normal time. Fantastic for lunch, my colleague had the ocean pizza which was also very good. Come hungry, these are large portions too

Before my trip to Tarbes, I prepared my list of restaurants I wanted to try for my travel blog simplytravelabroad. Le Contre Temps was on top of my list. I had read about the passionate tempered chef, the good location and most of all, the fabulous food. I made a reservation for four and got there in time to see the chef in a heated conversation with one of the customers. I am not sure what the problem was about but it seemed to revolve around a special request for vegetables from the client. Things calmed down under the puzzled faces of the other customers. I waited to see what this experience would bring. We all ordered a salad as an appetizer but chose different main courses in order to get a good overall taste experience. The waitress was friendly and brought the bottle of Madiran I ordered. There is no house wine and I was hoping the wine was worth it. It was, excellent. The salad arrived. Large portion, incredibly large and well presented. The taste...first class! Fresh lettuce, tender prosciutto, crusty pieces of bread with warm melting goat cheese. The dressing was balanced, just perfect acid to oil taste. Large enough for a main course but we gladly ate it all. My main course was a tender hanger steak, cooked to perfection, I am not a fan of french fries and try to stay away from starches but it was impossible not to eat these. Crispy and so well seasoned, I guiltily ate them to the very end. Accompanying this was a lovely sauce with espelette peppers, a delight. My lunch companions had the fish. Flaky, light, perfectly cooked. The rice was light and grains separated perfectly.I ordered the local cheese as desert and was expecting a piece of cheese on my plate. The cheese came sliced in thin slices beautifully arranged on the plate. My companions took the ice cream and solemnly finished every delicious drop. How can they serve all of this for under 15 euros? The restaurant was full, the service was paced just right, the presentation was superb. However, the best part was the food. You can taste the chefâs talent and passion in every dish. This is not a restaurant that merely serves food. Itâs talent at its best. After I eat in a restaurant, my question is, would I ever go back and eat the same dish?I cannot wait to go back again!
