We arrived without a reservation but they readily accomodated us , a party of 6. There are 3 set menus, all were reasonably priced. I had the gourmet menu and the portions were huge. My starter of a mixed salad was delicious. The other starter of garlic prawns was equally yummy - 5 big prawns. The mains were well cooked and very delicious. I had the turbot expecting a piece. Instead I got a whole turbot, grilled and served with a butter sauce! It was really fresh . There was hardly room for dessert but we managed to fit them in. Difficult choices but all were wonderful.Service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommend this restaurant. Simple good food cooked to perfection.

Visiting fromAustralia we came here with our close French friends. What a place! We travelled winding little roads to this unique restaurant high in the mountains. The view is spectacular. The seating is rustic and picturesque. We enjoyed plain very good simple food and plenty of it. The setting is safe for children to play around the restaurant in view and safe from cars.A very special visit.

The ambience is very special, with beautiful arrangements of freshly picked flowers from the garden and soft lighting makes this a lovely place to dine. Dinners are excellent and are offered as a 3-course menu with a good selection of wines to accompany the meal. To dine in a 16th century house that has remained in the same family over the centuries is a very special experience.

Discreet inn located just steps from the train of Rhune. Prolonged rustic room with a veranda. Shady and quiet terrace. View of the park and mountains. Playground for children. Private parking. Traditional and regional cuisine.
A family treat with a great deal. Home prepared good food and good value. Family run. Local. Kid friendly. Worth a visit.

At the far end of the village, this simple outdoor restaurant is better than the tourist traps at the other end. Good local food and a welcoming host. Reasonable prices. Go no further.

Zuzulua was suggested to us by a resident of the area, and it provided a welcome change from glitzy, touristy restaurants. The décor was modest (wood and windows), and most of the customers seemed to be people who lived nearby, but the Basque cuisine was hardly downscale. All four of us raved about the dishes we ordered, and wine, chosen from a moderate list emphasizing wineries of the region, was delicious. Zuzulua was a bit off the beaten path, but worth searching out.

This scenically beautiful restaurant was sold to us and we were taken there recently only to be disappointed. The family who run it were great but the food was not even average. The mixed starter of assorted meats and pate were bought from a supermarket and only the wrapping was missing and the asparagus tasted of the vinegar it had been preserved in. The main course of cep omelette was so undercooked that you would need a soup spoon to eat it and the ceps were in fact ordinary mushrooms. The chuleta was so salty and garlic covered that it was almost inedible. Even the bread was stale. All a great shame as we were told it was all home cooked food. I would suggest that they saw us coming and provided us and other diners with a tourist menu as other diners were eating things that did not appear on our menus!! The other diners included guys who were in work clothes and obviously regulars. The only good things were that it was not expensive and the views beautiful!!!

Its not often that i eat lunch at a restaurant 2 days in a row ,but made an exception here as the food is fantastic.Had the Fish in red peppers as starter followed by the fish of the day and the 3 assorted mini deserts( Brulee,Chocolate cake, cheesecake). On the 2nd day had the Ham platter followed by the Duck and large Creme Brulee. Without exception the food was perfectly cooked and beautifully accompanied By potato dauphinoise and stunning Plum sauce with the duck. The service was great, couldnt fault it, oh and wait the price was â¬22 each inc. wine! This lovely located Restaurant does the simple things simple. Its so easy to get a creme brulee wrong, and this was by far the best i have ever eaten. Its not easy to find(signposted from bottom of Sare village) but boy is it worth finding!

Simple honest local fare that is reasonable and nice. The staff was very friendly when we asked for directions so we came back for lunch. The veal mince stew was hearty but the local sausages with fries was tops. Especially the hand cut fries which was cooked to perfection. They were not overdone like some or limp and oily but just beautifully crisp golden brown with enough salt to just make you go . . . Wow! And this was after we've just come from San Sebastián!

We arrived to our accommodation tired and hungry and our hosts recommended Trinquet Pleka, only a short walk from Chalet Elisa. On realising our limited French the chef came out to personally explain the menu. We elected to have entree, main and dessert/cheese which all sounded fabulous. Chef said he would also bring us a small serve of lentil soup each which was yummy but filling. Our eyes were bigger than our tummies but there was no problem changing / reducing the order for our dessert/cheese course. The food was all beutifully fresh, local (Basque) or traditional (French) and the service was friendly and the courses arrived nicely spaced out. The place was filled with locals and the bar in the next room was busy and happily noisy. It is also possible to get simple fare including a hamburger but all made on site including the bread.
