We arrived to our accommodation tired and hungry and our hosts recommended Trinquet Pleka, only a short walk from Chalet Elisa. On realising our limited French the chef came out to personally explain the menu. We elected to have entree, main and dessert/cheese which all sounded fabulous. Chef said he would also bring us a small serve of lentil soup each which was yummy but filling. Our eyes were bigger than our tummies but there was no problem changing / reducing the order for our dessert/cheese course. The food was all beutifully fresh, local (Basque) or traditional (French) and the service was friendly and the courses arrived nicely spaced out. The place was filled with locals and the bar in the next room was busy and happily noisy. It is also possible to get simple fare including a hamburger but all made on site including the bread.

This is the restaurant that is part of Hotel La Nivelle - which has just been renovated superbly and worth a stay. We found this restaurant by accident 5 years ago and was happy to discover that the same family still owns and operates it and this time, we met them all including the chef whose Basque cuisine has gone up a major notch since we last ate there. Before, it was homely and delicious - now, it's brilliant, inventive, generous food made and served with love by a family that simply is a joy to meet and support. We know where we will be staying next time we're in the area so we can eat more than one meal there - Bravo madam, c'est magnifique! So worth a visit - Go, Go now!

Good clean restaurant / bar. Amiable host. Enjoyed the coffee and croissants. Right on the high street, easy to find. Park at the church. Lovely village for a quick stroll.

Such a shame, this used to be a great friendly casual restaurant with great food, but since it was taken over it's lost its appeal. We've tried again several times, but experiences such as very slow service, cold food, tasteless food, smoke alarm going off for 20 minutes and even cold inside (kept my coat on), have put us off, except for the take-away pizzas, which are still good thanks to the proper pizza oven.

Our second visit. Service as good as ever. Surroundings are modern and clean. Lovely oil paintings on the wall. 2 muse bouche. Anchovies in a dressing and a tiny butternut squash soup with chestnuts, delicious. I had foie gras for starters, my husband had the cepe omelette. Both were lovely. We ate a la carte, I had a mixed fish dish for mains, my husband had the tournedos of beef. Both great choices. No pudding, but all washed down with a local wine.

We have looked forward to this for a long time. It was closed when we were here last. Lovely restaurant, attentive staff. Good menu, but expensive. Great attention to detail, we had two starters, a main and desert. Starters were artichoke served in tempura batter, and, jambon sec with omelette and poached egg on top. Both excellent. The main was duck served with a delicious sauce. Pudding was ice cream and tiny chocolate cakes.GoodAfternoon AntoniaTrip and thank you for sharing your experience at the Auberge Basque. We're pleased to read your comments and we thank you once again. We hope to see you very soon at the Auberge, maybe you'ld try our Tradition Moment for the Lunch, more authentic and traditional and with different rates ?Cedric and Marion Béchade

Just popped in for lunch. Seemed quite busy. Smoked trout beautifully presented follows by Gambas with risotto for one and shoulder of pork with polenta for the other. All 10/10. Pudding very good also but getting full by then. All this with three glasses of wine for 68 euros!

Zuzulua was suggested to us by a resident of the area, and it provided a welcome change from glitzy, touristy restaurants. The décor was modest (wood and windows), and most of the customers seemed to be people who lived nearby, but the Basque cuisine was hardly downscale. All four of us raved about the dishes we ordered, and wine, chosen from a moderate list emphasizing wineries of the region, was delicious. Zuzulua was a bit off the beaten path, but worth searching out.

Salon Cyrano is dedicated to good and beautiful moments: A cup tea on a sunny terrace, protected by plane trees. A peaceful lunch with exclusively local products. The Salon Cyrano team welcomes you with all its generosity and good care.
On a recent rip to Cambo-les-bains, we ate lunch several times at Cyrano. The food is excellent, the staff top notch, and the view from the patio to beautiful! Highly recommend Cyrano
