This was not our first choice, but since the first choice was closed we decided to give it a try. Glad we did since the food was excellent, the view relaxing and the service efficient and friendly. Give it a try too, you will not be disappointed.

Very pleasant restaurant offering a wide range of Basque food. Good sized portions and a variety of local dishes, salads etc. Something for everyone. Excellent Gateau Basque. Very good service by friendly staff who spoke some English for those who do not speak French. About a dozen tables set outside on the pavement as well as dining room inside.

These guys make very very good crepes. We had the one with Jamón Serrano, onion confit, goat cheese, and egg. It was delicious! For dessert (no picture since we devoured it too quickly), we got the one with caramel, roasted pralines & butter. WOW. I am a classic nutella dessert crepe person, but so glad that I tried this one out! The caramel tastes delicious. Thank you for making our stop at St-Jean-Pied-de-Port such a delicious one!

Ii arrived without a booking to a completely full restaurant. Although the place was busy and the wait staff was kept on their toes, they were very friendly and attentive, offering me a place to wait for a table. I had a good vantage point overlooking the terrace which is right on the river. I was all prepared to be ignored and forgotten (it would not be the first time in such a restaurant in France) but they remembered me and as soon as a table became free it was mine. Well done! A pretty extensive menu, with quite reasonable pricing. The dishes are copious, perhaps even too much. I could not manage to fit in a dessert, which was a pity as there were some promising items being served to other diners. A small carafe of (quite reasonable) local wine was Eur 5, and my total bill came to Eur 28. One of the two or three good restaurants in town (the others are really too tourist-focused with high prices and often disappointing food)

how a restaurant in such a tourist town could be this good is amazing. the value of food and wine almost from another age. Not only classic ambience, but great atmosphere, service and above all food and wine. the menu is reasonable and varied and the pichets of wine local , and perfect for the food. This restaurant really makes for a relaxed and enjoyable dinner, with a walk along the ramparts after. Needed to walk off the tasty naughty desserts. Can never beat chef/owner run restos with regional cooking and wines/beers to match. after a long day of walking, this was the reward.

We went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I canât say enough good things about this place. The atmosphere was fantastic. The outside seating area was beautiful and the indoor atmosphere was fun. There was a storm coming, so we ate inside. The owners were exceptional. We each had the vegetarian salad and loved it. I wish they were open for dinner this evening because we would return.

We ate here while travelling through the Basque Pyrenees. I had seen some reviews online, and the restaurant lived up to them. Very inventive cooking (e.g., our starter was a sushi roll made with locally produced ham and cheese), excellent products and preparations, and great value for the quality of food. The restaurant is on a cobblestone street leading up to the citadel above St. Jean Pied-de-Port, and the town and restaurant location make a meal here even more charming.

Has until now been reviewed as part of the hotel with same name, but should be treated seperately since it is a 2 star Michelin.
Four of us, visiting from California, opted for the âterroirsâ menu. It was delicious, as good as a 3 star Michelin restaurant we ate in San Sebastián the night before. The first course, asparagus in pastry, was solid. The lamb was fantastic and the desserts kept coming. Highly recommended!
