This was our first visit to this restaurant easily reached from our Home: 20-minute drive and easy parking. The restaurant extends from the front to the back of the building with the bar on one of the long sides and the kitchens located further back. There are about 10 tables and seating for some 40 people. There is also a small room just of the back of the restaurant with room for 6-8 people to have an aperitif. Furniture is simple and modest. For me there was too much advertising on the bar which reduces the appeal of the room.Service is friendly and prompt. However, as we discovered, the staff with the exception of the ownerâs wife are not well versed on either the ingredients or the wine list. The menu is not extensive and changes about every six weeks. There is a set meu (Menu Découverte) price at CHF70 for the full menu or CHF 60 if you drop one course. There is also the opportunity to create your own menu with three daysâ notice and priced at anywhere from CHF50 to the limit of oneâs budget. The wine list is quite extensive with some unusual offerings from the Valais. For Switzerland the pricing is quite reasonable. We chose the Menu Découverte and a St Saphorin as a white and after discussions with the Ownerâs wife a Minervois for the red.As the menu changes reasonably frequently, I wonât go into too much detail. We had dishes based around sashimi grade yellow fin tuna, quail and rack of lamb. It was in discussing the details of the menu that the lack of training of the staff came to the fore. To know more about the tuna took three trips to the back, similarly to know what araignéé means for pork. This was a dish on the à la carte portion of the menu. We had never heard of it and, by the way, I still donât know what it is in English. It is an unusual cut that the butcher normally keeps for himself because there is very little on each animal, looks a little unusual but is delicious and tender! The quality of the cooking is very high and inventive; the tuna came with an emulsion containing white chocolate: delicious. The presentation, for us, errs on the side of being a little chi-chi. The first course came with cold smoke from dry ice, the second with fire and we expected either wind or brimstone with the third, but things settled down. We could have done with a little less of the artsy-crafty.All in all, we enjoyed the evening and will be back but will time our visits to coincide with changes in the menu. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Lucens, where this restaurant is located, has a medieval castle including a permanent museum dedicated to Conan Doyle. The Hotel de la Gare is a gem of a restaurant, associating haute cuisine with simple fare and authentic products. The chef has chosen to make gastronmic dishes whilst not trying to go overboard. The result are refined, well-known recipes with a particularly touch. You do not leave hungry as you sometimes do when leaving restaurants trying to go overboard. The wine liste and desserts are outstanding. Lucens is a small village in the midst of farmland, the more suprising, which also explains the choices made by the chef.
Un joli petit restaurant de village. Accueil chaleureux et personnel sympathique. Le repas était très bon et le prix très correct.

Nice cosy hotel in downtown medieval townof Romont, FR. Had a great stay in a large double room (twin beds put side-by-side) on top floor. Dinner was reasonable priced and meal portions are large! Buffet style breakfast and wifi included in hotel rate. Perfect for a good night's rest!

While visiting the picturesque countryside around Romont I stopped for lunch at St-Georges, which proved an excellent choice. As a café-restaurant St-Georges welcomes everybody - whether for just a few drinks in the café or a full meal in the dining room. The latter is very cozy but on the smaller side, therefore advance booking recommended.A huge thumbs-up to the tenant lady and young waitress: both were friendly, smiling and efficient. It truly was Swiss hospitality at its best. The à -la-carte menu is limited with focus on seasonal produce. As autumn is starting I indulged in the "Menu Chasse" - a three-course fixed menu: all portions were generous and beautifully set up. As starter the game terrine with pistachios was truly delicious. The main course was venison medallions served with all the trimmings (red cabbage, spaetzli, poached pear). Again very tasty - meat was very tender, and served in a rich sauce. Fortunately I still had some room left for the delicious dessert: mulled wine crème brûlée. For Swiss standards prices remain pleasantly moderate. The bill amounted to CHF75, of which CHF56 for the three-course menu. I have now saved St-Georges into my favorites!

I don't recommend to go there for just eating a common steak and French potatoes, no, you should go there for the Spanish kitchen. The waitress is Spanish and always brings us our meals with a smile and we even get small surprises like Spanish olives... Good Mojitos. The restaurant is decorated in a cosy way. Highly recommended!
