I have been going to the Tavaillon since it opened probably 3 or 4 times a year. I have a couple of gites in a town nearby and the Tavaillon is one of only three restaurants in the vicinity that I recommend to my guests out of a possible 37 within a 30km radius- Why, quite simple; it's main theme for the menus are from the 'Savoie' region of France which makes it massively more interesting than the average restaurant in Brittany. Therefore try the 'raclettes, fondues and 'Brazzerade' with all the beautiful melted mountain cheeses. The restaurant is small and intimate, you are not treated like 'pound notes with legs' and the welcome is warm and genuine. The owners provide the chef, front of house and main waitress services and the bill will not make your eyes water. In the 4 years we have been going the menu has changed a little but the delicious 'Savoie' staples remain. Try the pork cheeks braised in cider, you will not regret it.

We enjoyed a lovely few hours in Pontivy and found this little cafe. We chose it because it just looked so French. It is lovely inside lots of people. We had Irish coffee and two pastries, delicious. Recommended. They also do food, quiche, beef bourginon etc.

The place is friendly and so the service is. They are very kind and quick elaborating the plates, so it is a good place to taste the typical galletes or ble-noir crepes. Modern decoration inside, and comfortable. The crepes are standard comparing to other places in the region: well made, but not outstanding. Anyway, it is a good address if you are nearby at lunch time.

Probably the best creperie in Bretagne. Though the restaurant produces traditional food - crepes and galettes - it has a stunning selection of speciality dishes, for example, our favourite is Tartiflette Irelandaise, a crepe wrapped around smoked salmon and tartiflette with a gorgeous salad. All the salads which accompany food here are simply the best, fresh and crispy and tasty and we must also commend highly the 'frites' which are a must. We eat there often when we are in Bretagne and it is a delight to talk with local people and fellow travellers, or just sit back and enjoy very good food in surroundings which make you more than welcome.

What a fantastic little place. The owner speaks wonderful English and is a great character. We ate in the sous-sol - mind your heads. Excellent food - we had a complet gallette and the andouille with potatoes. Delicious. The lemon, sugar and butter crepes were just divine.

Facing the river in Pontivy, La Pommeraie served two of us the two best (different) meals we enjoyed in five weeks in France. The entrée + plat + dessert was priced at only 20â¬. The service was efficient, very friendly, and patient with our imperfect French.

Called in here on our last day in the area. Excellent! My French was learnt in the 70's but with the help of the excellent female waiter were got through the menu. Open short short hours but make the effort. We had just the dish of the day for around E16.00 and it was superb.Plus right on the river.

Monday lunch service and food was excellent. Menus de hour was better than adequate and the staff were very considerate to check whether my wife had intended to order "brains". Starters were very good and portions not stunted. Proper napkins. How do they do it for the price?

Really enjoyed our meal here. Itâs described as a gastro pub but itâs much better than that. I had moules followed by a coffee dessert and my husband had duck in bernaise sauce followed by Crewe brûlée. It was so fresh and absolutely delicious. They are beyond pub grub but not totally fine dining, a mixture of all sorts and something for everyone. Well worth a visit.

Double recommendation (tripadvisor and the owner of our B&B) led us to spent our last evening in Bretagne in restaurant Al Dente. The expectations were very high, and were met from the start. The waiters were very friendly, and the apetisers (focacia, tomato, croquette of sardines, mozzarella were of a very promising level. In the evening, you can only take the menu (a 27 EUR) which consist of a choice between 2 starters, 2 main dishes and 4 desserts. We took one of each starter and main dish, and all 4 dishes were outstanding. Many congrats to the chef and his team in the kitchen. The desserts just followed the quality of the dishes and were very good. Why then not a quotation of 5/5, but only 4/4 ? Well the tempo of the meals was very slow. We started at 19:30 and 3 courses later, we finished after 22:00. Just 3 courses in 2,5 hours is much to slow. And knowing the restaurant is âItalianâ we expected a bit more âenergyâ.
