Walked in to an empty restaurant at 8pm but soon filled up. Had set menu, which had 3 fish, 3 meat choices for mains. Without sounding like a Masterchef judge, they really understood flavours and presentation was superb (particularly the starters)..............!Outstanding

This is a small bar/restaurant which serves coffees (excellent) and snacks from 11am till evening (closed Mon Tues) so good for walkers and cyclists to drop in for a reviving cuppa. Their main meals (We went for Sunday lunch) are well cooked and nicely presented and they try to accommodate dietary needs. The décor is attractive and it has a family feel rather than a bar atmosphere. The owners are very welcoming and now have a good clientèle of French and English, so if you are a large party it would be a good idea to book a table.thanks very much, your comments are appreciated, especially as you are also in the hospitality industry,we are so pleased you enjoyed your first visit to us and hope to see you again, We trust your doggy box with extra gravy was also enjoyed!

We recently stayed in the area of Neuvy -Bouin and visited Le Relais des Saveurs for Sunday Lunch. The restaurant is nothing to look at from the outside and seems more like a Bar but looks are deceiving. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and screens are used to separate large parties. The menu was 26.50 euros for a Starter Main and Dessert with 5 or 6 choices on each. The food was excellent , well cooked and presented and the service impeccable. We then decided to visit on 2 further occasions for midweek lunch. This was the "Menu du Jour" ( unless you pre-booked) Starter, Main, (2 choices), Cheese, Dessert (2 choices) Wine or Beer for 12 euros each unbelievable! Again all the food was of a very good standard and needless to say the restaurant was full!

Evening spoilt by noisy party of English, 8 adults and 4 children. Children running round all night. Food not that good. Crumble Niicoise is a new one to me but is cold ratatouille with crumble topping and goats cheese. Brochette de boeuf was overcooked. Desserts were the best part.

Often passed this restaurant but had not eaten there since a change in proprietor. Called in one Friday lunchtime shortly after noon and were welcomed warmly and seated quickly. The room soon filled up with diners. Although the full menu was available we had the plat du jour at 19.50 euros for 3 courses including coffee. Entrée was home smoked salmon salad, main was pheasant with a good selection of seasonal vegetables perfectly cooked and a dessert of cooked pineapple with a thick sauce and ice cream. The meal was delicious and lived up to the "Maitre Restaurateur" label. The owners were very attentive and efficient and hoped we would return one weekend when the full menu was more refined including foie gras and coquilles St Jacques. We will return !

When the Caesars ruled the roost (and everything else, for that matter), Bacchus was an extremely popular fellow, keeping the population happy with a copious supply of drink. Working quietly by his side was his little-known brother, Ricardus, who kept them fed.The days of the Caesars are long gone, and Bacchus has retained his popularity throughout all of the ensuing centuries, indeed millennia. But what of his brother?Little has been heard of Ricardus in the interim, and his absence has been sorely felt. But we in the Deux-Sevres region can rejoice, for Ricardus, now using the more modern spelling âRichardâ, has emerged and is plying his trade in Vernoux-en-Gatine. The centuries of quiet research manifest themselves in creations of sheer artistic delight, and the flavours more than match the appearance. It is fitting that he should rejoin us within France, the home of good food and good wine - for the advice of Bacchus is clearly evidenced in the wine list.Book early if you wish to enjoy his creations - we, the people of the region are fully aware of his talents and make copious use of them!

Relaxed and affordable early on a Friday evening. The menu was of reasonable range with non steak dishes under 14euros. House red was pleasant and certainly acceptable for non wine coiniseurs like ourselves. Cash point next door with easy parking. Easy walking distance to Centre Ville. Filled up quickly with French patrons suggesting good level of local acceptability. Warmly recommended.
