We were cautiously optimistic going to this restaurant - we had seen previous good reviews, but had heard that ownership/management had changed over the past few months. As it turned out, there was no need for caution! The menu is limited (about 3 choices for each course) but the food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced for the quality (certainly compared to prices in Ireland!). I had marinated fish with langoustine for starter and delicious lobster for main course - the lobster was already out of its shell which was so welcome! The dessert was absolutely to die for - warm chocolate fondant with warm raspberries in the centre with the liquid chocolate - wow! Would definitely recommend a visit here.

Staying at the Domaine, we booked in for dinner despite one or two mixed reviews. The staff were friendly, helpful and shared a few jokes. The meal was very good quality and cooked as requested. We were not rushed and neither were the waiters slow in serving us. As usual, the drinks always look expensive but that didn't stop us! As there is a wide choice of different foods you can budget accordingly. In truth, after one starter (mine) two main courses, three small glasses of wine and two coffees I came away thinking 60ish euros (£55) was pretty good.Dear Jrapeter, dear guest, It is such a delight to read your review ! I would like to express my most sincere thanks for selecting us and share your Domaine de la Bretesche's experience with the Trip Advisor community. The entire team was delighted to take care of you and are looking forward to welcome you back to South Britanny. With my best regards,Pierre SanchoGeneral Manager

We were staying nearby in the also excellent Camping du Deffay and chose to dine here on two nights - both were fantastic. This restaurant is tucked away off the main road between Calviere and St Rein de Bretagne in a tiny village. To all holidaymakers it is well worth a try to sample some great local cuisine, very well priced in a lovely setting. We loved the fact that most things were left to our French interpretation , with the host speaking little English, this however added to the experience (host was lovely by the way and went out of her way to try and bridge the language gap)- if you are looking for translated menus, don't go here. Very much had a locals feel, again adding to the ambiance. My son's sampled the duck, which was cooked rare, veal and the fish of the day are also to be recommended. Set menus offered great value however with the four of us eating off the a'la carte with wine at around 100 euros was not expensive for the fare on offer. Really enjoyed our visit, slight negative.... seems petty but the potato rosti served with most main courses was not homemade, and out of character with everything else, very minor point however. We will definitely return when we stay in the area again.

Very welcome addition to the Village. Only opened weeks ago in the premises previously operated by another restaurant. Refurbished to a high standard and a good ambience.Very good menu choice. Both food and drink prices are reasonable particularly bearing in mind the quality produced. Good friendly service.Well worth a visit.

Lovely staff who were brilliant with 8 of us and our poor French. Restaurant nicely decorated, the menu had 3/4 different choices and the steaks were delicious, well cooked and huge. Popular with local people ( we went on a Friday evening ) . Prices reasonable. Too full to try dessert but they looked good.

...but then what else would you expect from a chef who holds a Michelin star! It is obviously well deserved but it's not what you do but how you do it that counts and the staff certainly complement the chef by their superb service. Go for the 7 course menus - you will not regret it!Hello ,Thank you so much for sending us your comments .It would seem that you really enjoyed TONY MALHERBE's cuisine and we are conviced we must carry on that way .Have you ever been to our CLUB BISTRO ??Looking forward to seeing you another time ,Best regards ,DELAFFON FABIENGeneral Manager
