A 3* Michelin restaurant with rooms on the banks of the River Thames. Chef Patron is Alain Roux.
I only have superlatives for The Waterside Inn! This 3-Michelin-star restaurant was splendiferous in every way: I'm talking about the WHOLE experience from the time you drive into Bray and leave your vehicle, step into the charming Inn, behold the dining area with an enchanting view of the Thames, encounter the politely helpful and knowledgeable staff rendering impeccable service, and partake of the exceptionally delicious fare! Now I know what truly distinguishes excellent from exquisite. Blessed to have dined in one of only 5 UK restaurants that have the distinctive 3-Michelin-star rating! I salute The Waterside Inn, the Roux family! I cherish the experience.

I was delighted to recently discover this place was only a 5-10 min drive from home. To fully appreciate the pub I think its useful to know a little about who owns the pub and how they manage it. It's very interesting! Service (from the owners various offspring) was friendly and polite. The atmosphere was classy, but informal. Nice, tiny but cosy bar for a pre dinner drink just off the main room with around 10 tables. My main grumble I'm afraid is the steep prices. The food was good, no question about that. But relatively simple. With mains floating around the £30 mark I just wasn't as impressed as I thought I might be. My rabbit pate starter was exceptionally small. My other slight gripe is the menu. We dined in the height of summer so were quite surprised to find venison pie, slow cooked lamb (it was delicious though) and treacle pudding on the very small menu. I don't know, maybe I'm being picky. I just didn't come away feeling that we got value for money here. Definitely worth a try if you can afford it.

Brought to you by Michel Roux O.B.E. and son Alain, Roux at Skindles is a value-for-money, contemporary brasserie with cocktail bar in Taplow where you can pop in for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or just a coffee or snack, at any time of day. Michel and Al
Exceptional location on the River Thames and overlooking Maidenhead Bridge (dating from 1775). Food: Have been there several times (live closely) and they are all excellent. Never a bad meal. All fine dining or more. Many historic. Meat, fish, prawns, veggies, deserts all top-notch. Manager is Maxine and he is charming, charismatic, and efficient. He has Roux heritage. Two caveats: parking is just outside but can become full. Overflow parking then is a little further away. Noise levels can rise making conversation difficult at peak times. Needs additional sound-proofing.Try their boat (they do have one â talk to Maxima the excellent manager). Take river cruise with Rouxâs staff. Also the bar balcony is wonderful and heated. Lovely in both Summer and Winter.Michel Roux drops in occasionally with Amanda (my ex-GP). Lovely couple. Reserve early as weekends are busy. Mondays closed.

Went for an evening meal - we were aiming for traditional but this was just a bit too dated. 'sweet trolley', very very lengthy menu with nothing outstanding on it.We also booked for 8pm weeks ago, on booking I got pushed back to 8.15 but when we arrived we got placed in the 'waiting area' and didn't actually get seated until 9pm ... there was another group in the same situation but for 3 of us I thought this was a bad etiquette and they are over-booking and waiting for the first sitting to finish without telling them the table is booked. Also by buying drinks in between we felt it did not 'enhance' our meal experience but rather took slightly away.
