Refined French-Japanese fusion cuisine in an elegant and tranquil setting. Service was welcoming and unobtrusive, very attentive. We were served 2 amuse-bouches, the first one being a puree of parsnips and the second a smooth gelatin reduction topped with a dice of octopus and ginger. Both were subtle, creamy, and delicious. I had an appetizer of pan-seared foie gras nestled on a bed of slivered cauliflower and baked parmesan chips, drizzled with a blueberry sauce; it was warm, unctuous, and just a hint of sweetness and sourness from the blueberry to cut the richness. This was followed by a roasted slab of sea bass on a bed of pureed broccoli, accompanied with wild rice and mushrooms - delicate and mild, very autumnal. For dessert, I had their pavlova with poached plum slices, pistachios, whipped cream, and plum sorbet - a nicely crisp meringue contrasting with the gently melting sorbet, not overly sweet. Went great with coffee. The dinner menu is somewhat limited in choices, however, and i'm guessing that it's to focus on bringing out the utmost of the flavors and ingredients. It does accomplish this but I would advise those with large appetites to order two entrees (which is not a problem for this establishment) as one will probably not be enough.

Having been here once before and been very impressed this visit was a bit disappointing. Despite the drop in temperature - this was back in mid-September - the proprietor basically insisted we sit outside on the terrace, which isn't especially agreeable anyway slap bang as it is to a main road. The glass of Vacqueyras blanc was a hefty and enjoyable mouthful but pretty much gulped down just so we could escape to the warmth of a nearby restaurant. I know that this proprietor knows his wines very well; let us leave it at that.

Le Comptoir des cousins is serving you fresh and local market cuisine every day for lunch. In the evening, you will discover authentic food from other lands, to share with your friends and loved ones.
Maybe I was expecting too much after reading the excellent reviews, but I was disappointed with the food throughout our evening. We went for an early dinner. Reception and service were both unbeatable. Warm, welcoming and efficient, throughout the evening. Very nice vibe, comfortable seats, and good acoustics, making conversation easy. Management was attentive all evening, always enquiring if everything was good. Well, it was good, and definitely not bad enough to complain. Given the warmth of our welcome, it felt somehow churlish to complain about the finer points of the dishes. The trout ceviche was clumsily cut, with very unevenly sized pieces. I had expressed reservations about using trout for ceviche when ordering, but was convinced otherwise. Mistake. The sauce was too heavy with citrus, as well as being overly watery. The fish tartare consisted of chopped-up pieces that were a tad big, with a fairly bland taste, while the octopus was okay, but only okay. Spices did not zing. The corn cakes we expected when ordering humitas turned out to be a rather pedestrian corn mash. And the dessert of deconstructed lemon meringue tart was overly sweet. We have had far better offerings from restaurants elsewhere, that serve a similarly constructed tapas menu. I wish I could give the restaurant a higher rating, but the food just isn't good enough. In summary, management and service is of the highest order, but the food, although not bad, does not deliver what the description promises. In spite of this, we had an enjoyable evening, and would recommend the restaurant, as long as your expectations of the food are not unrealistically high.

Waited for almost 45 minutes to just order, even though the restaurant wasnât full. No menu cards, no prices told in advance, as the waiter just went from table to table and told the menu orally. The customers werenât served in the order they arrived, and the waiter had time to chit-chat with some customers, even after I had kindly asked him to hurry up. Ordering the meal took so much time so I didnât want to wait and see how long it takes to actually get the food you ordered. Hungry and disappointed, I left the restaurant without even getting to know the menu, and went to McDonaldâs instead. So no idea how the food wouldâve been, probably not worth the wait.

We arrived without a reservation at 20.00, crazy I know, but we were given a table inside and welcomed warmly never the less. All the waiting staff spoke very good English and all were delightfully charming and helpful. Menus which change monthly were offered in English or French and dishes explained before ordering and again when delivered. The menu is a limited table d'hote or a la carte with choice of 3 entrees, 4 mains and 3 deserts for 33 euro (optional cheese course 7 euro). There's also a 45 euro degustation menu as well. The wine list is quite varied and includes wines by the glass, caraffe as well as bottles catering for all budgets. Check their website for the current menu. All dishes were excellent, well prepared and totally delicious. Highly recommendedHello, We are so happy to hear that you liked our restaurant ! Your satisfaction is our priority ! I love vegetables but invariably chefs find it difficult to produce, wonderful, inventive dishes without the star being meat or fish. Not here! Everything from the amuse Bouche to the dessert was incredible. A purée of carrots with carrot jelly and diced carrot was fresh and full of flavour. My risotto of fine herbs and tomatoes, was light and fresh with the aroma of the south of France in summer. The piece de resistance was a chocolate and blonde brownie with chocolate mouse. So delicious it was a taste of heaven. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Obviously passionate about what they were doing. A really fantastic find.

Booked this fabulous restaurant for 8 people. From the very start they were fantastic about answering my emails. The food was amazing. Beautifully presented, tasted wonderful. The wine that they recommended was wonderful too. The service was excellent. Polite yet cheery with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic meal, meal with friends, or just a great place to have wonderful food. When I go back to Lyon as I loved this City I will return to this restaurant.

What a lovely, interesting, surprising meal...fantastic ingredients, expertly cooked.... well deserved first spot...highly recommend a visit..Had the six courses, with matched wine....well worth it..not to much food, not to little...my only suggestion is to keep the wine coming...making people wait with empty glasses...Thank you Carmen for your feedback, highly appreciated ! We're pleased to read that you enjoyed your experience at La Mutinerie. Concerning wine pairing, we understand your point of view, it's always a big deal to decide rather to fill your glass up with the wine that follows and matches the next meal when it is not ready to be served, because we're afraid you won't have any wine left to pair it with the meal... But we'll work on that for sure !Hope to welcome you again soon, Best regards,

My wife and I managed to get a table for the following night ... so reservations are definitely required. The food was superb, as was the recommended wine. The only suggestion I have is for the restaurant to offer a selection of âpotâ of wine as is common in many other restaurants in Lyon. The waiters were also outstanding in their helpfulness, attentiveness and friendliness.

Made reservations in advance. A must. This is a small space. Not packed together seating as some smaller places but close spaced. Wait staff was very attentive and helpful. Both waiters spoke English . We were very pleased with our experience. We are well traveled and we are open to new experiences. So I tried one of their specialties the tripe sausages. I have had trip before but not sausages. Plenty big serving. Sauce was good and the flavor was, not strong. Many restaurants here in Lyon serve this. For me, it had a fragrance that was not appealing to me. I ate most of it and was fine with my choice. The waiter asked me if I knew what this was and if I really wanted it. Well done on his part. My wife had a pike with a sauce and a side of an amazing broccoli purée. We will try to make at home. But my starter was a duck confit in a cream sauce. Excellent. Never have had this preparation. My wife had the the pate en croute.Excellent. Desert I had "fresh" cheese, which was served cold in a small bowl. Was creamy. Very good, again different. Why you travel!!
