The main menu offers traditional French food with the option of pizza if needed. Friendly service with excellent English spoken offered by a local ESF ski instructor, Manu. Friendly chef is on hand to help with dietary options. Inexpensive and friendly restaurant. Only small so book to avoid disappointment.

Very welcoming family-run restaurant. Extremely friendly service, and a wide range of food on the menu, from salads, pasta dishes, confit de canard, entrecôte, fondu, raclette, galettes and crepes. Tartiflette a speciality, of course, as is the jambon cru de montagne. We ate here four times and the average dinner price worked out at 25 euros, including wine. We liked the cotes de rhone at 15 euros a bottle.Beware the patron and his bottle of Genepi with the offer of 'Servez-vous'!

We went on the recommendation of a local travel agent. The restaurant aspires to be a fine dining experience. However, the food was initially served cold and on unheated plates. We complained. Our plates were removed without any apology: it was almost as if they were used to this. When our plates were returned, the food had simply been reheated. Again, no apology was offered and coupled with total disinterest from the staff. In short, total indifference. That could not have cared less.On the plus side, at least the wine was good. But, this is far from the quality of food and service that is fine dining.

Incredibly good value set menus. Crepes were light but filling. A wide range of flavours - all those that we tried were good. Generous service was genuine and friendly and overcame our limited French language skills. Will visit again.

This was simple, excellent food with fantastic mostly local ingredients. We had raclette, crêpe Sarrazin, salad, different puddings, and a 50cl bottle of Mondeuse. All were memorably good. For 3 people this all came to â¬100.Staff efficient and friendly In winter try to eat downstairs - it's cozy with a fireplaceDuring ski holiday period, you need to reserve.

La Cagette is slightly off the beaten path in Le Monetier - les Bains, but easy enough to find.We had lunch there - as the only guests - and it was fabulous. Modern decor, attractive menu and wine list. Food is very good and significantly above the usual - rich - Alpine fare.Excellent value for money and friendly service. Will return.

We came here by chance as our other choices of restaurants were fully booked - and we are very glad that we did.The restaurant was empty and the decor is somewhat casual - try to avoid the bench seats at the side with the cushions as they make you sit too high - so we were somewhat nervous about the quality of the food. However the hostess was lovely, nothing was too much trouble. There is a fairly short menu and a specials board with about 7 different main course options. Prices were around 10 - 17 euros for a main course. We were given tasters of bruschetta and a mini lasagna roll, both were delightful. Then we started with a shared platter of grilled vegetables, these were very good and included pizza style aubergine and artichoke with cheese on top.For mains my husband had the special of wild boar type stew and I had the pasta with mushrooms, both were well executed and very filling. Our son had spag bol which he seemed to enjoy as usual. The hostess had recommended wine pairings and these went very well, and when it came to the bill, they weren't very expensive.I have been to Rome and Tuscany recently and I have to say that I can't think of anything I ate in Italy that matched our meal at La Belotte.

In summer or winter, never once have i been disappointed by the food. Fine dining as you wouldn't expect in this tiny village, for a very affordable price. The chef is outstanding!
