From start to finish an excellent experience. A small but impeccable dining room offers the most refined dining experience in St Martin. The cooking here easily surpasses several Michelin starred restaurants we have visited recently and I'm sure the guide must surely be thinking awarding one here. What we liked was a respect for the ingredients. Top produce with seasonality in mind and then cooked to perfection with a restraint not to add unnecessary garnishes. We also shared a bottle of the hotel's own wine Chateau Clarisse Vielle Vignes 2015 which is new Chateau to me. What a lovely bottle. Already drinking superbly I can say quality to price ratio it is somewhat of a bargain. Until next year! Dear Madam, Dear Sir, I am delighted to read your kind words, thank you for taking the time to share your experience at La Table dâOlivia.Thrilled to read that you appreciated the cuisine of our Chef Thibault Peyroche. We take care about choosing and cooking local and seasonal products. Our Chef used to have a Michelin star in the past, his everyday aim is to bring his guests on an exquisite culinary journey.I am pleased to see that you appreciated the dining room. For the decoration, I collaborated with the renowned designer Mr. Pierre-Yves Rochon, and I surrounded myself with the best craftsmen in order to highlight the history of the Ile de Ré and the Region.Delighted to read that you have appreciated our wines. Our own wine, Château Clarisse, enjoys clay-limestone and clay-siliceous soil and is composed of 67% merlot, 30% cabernet francs and 3% carmenere.I would be happy to welcome you again. For any future stay or reservation, I am happy to put you in touch with my assistant, Marie Dumarest ([email protected]), she will be pleased to arrange the details of your next stay with us. I am surprised this restaurant is no 3 on trip advisor - the mere fact it is right on the coastmay account for that and then the seafood is excused. There a few cabana or shack restaurants around the coast- they are attractive because they are rustic and simple and the food speaks for itself.Yes it is busy and wait for a table as there is no reservation system. The service is very mediocre with few staff run off their feet- so typical of France as a result of their employment laws. The restaurant is very exposed - it was an intensely hot day and none of the umbrellas were up which I found strange but give them credit hats were availableNow for the food.We had stopped at fish market over the bridge and were able to see for ourselves the wide choice of fresh fish available. The only fresh fish let alone any fish available was dover sole grilled on the skin in flour and oil - not very interesting no herbs and with potato.-22â¬The reviews state how amazing the oysters - this is not a standout there are so many outlets on the island that provide qualityThere were no mussels. The langoustine supposedly 'fresh' from Scotland were absolutely terrible - extremely mushy and still frozen in parts - I suspect straight out of the box and thawed.Obviously the crevettes were imported This place is just a tourist trapStrongly suggest if you want the authentic experience go to Cabane de la Faneau - sublime tranquil setting nature they farm there own prawns and it shows.Their oysters were on another level - sublime delicate taste without an overriding saltiness like many other place

As a family we got burgers, chips and a pizza to take away. And though the staff were pleasant the food was of poor standard. Pizza was undercooked. The burgers are tiny! The patty literally no thicker than a slice of ham. You'd get a better burger in McDonald's, which is sad. Maybe their other food is of better quality? I won't be returning to find out. Thanks for the comment!!but I'm really sorry for you if your mouth doesnât make the difference between homemade food and frozen industrial

We work on Mega yachts and are spoilt for good food. Last nights Dinner cooked by Chef Michael was possibly one of the best meals ever. Foie gras was home made and delicious, lamb shank and Scallops also amazing. Desert was incredible. The atmosphere, service and vibe in this terrific restaurant was top notch. Clearly the owners love what they do. We are leaving today otherwise we would be back. Many Thanks, form all the staff

Having visited St. Martin we wanted to find a less busy place for lunch. Trip advisor led us here... A lovely French meal, great staff member, very tasty food, pudding was amazing. Highly recommended.

We stopped here for lunch on a cycle ride. It was sunny, warm and the restaurant was heaving. La Rhetaise feels more of a cafe really and there was an incredible mix of customers. Large, local family groups, tourists, couples, young and old. And it was easy to see why. The Oysters are fabulous. I have tried them a few times in the past and frankly, gagged. These are in a league of their own. Fresh out of the tank - you can watch the owner fishing them out before shucking them to order - they had a gentle taste of the sea. It was also one of the few places thappy to serve a mix of sizes too. Our main dishes of clams (palourdes) - especially the ones grilled with pistou - were just sublime. Service was friendly and table water and bread bought to the table straight away. This was our cheapest meal in two weeks and one of the best. The local wine included in the price was good too. If you are even vaguely in the area, make an effort to go. You won't be disappointed.

Wed stopped the previous for a coffee, the atmosphere and staff were very inviting, so we went back the next night for food and weren't disappointed. We didnt have kids with us, but there was small children's area which assume is appreciated by diners. Would go back again when next in La Couarde sur Mer

The food at the Balaou was excellent. We had octopus salad, cod balls to start and then steak and hake as mains. Great flavours and each dish very well prepared. The service was very friendly and would recommend highly. Certainly the best food we had on the island.
