Restaurant a Chateau du Loir

If you want a Sunday lunch in Chateau du Loir, you have but two options, and this is one of them. It is an old-fashioned late Victorian or early Edwardian hotel, refurbished with style, but minamilist, with two light and airy dining rooms, one of which was given over to a big family get-together on our visit. The food was first-rate, plentiful and served by a small team who were a complete delight. They were assured, confident, and smiled. It is clearly a popular rendezvous, and one can see why. Sensible wiine list, the freshest of produce on the plate. This is how it should be done.

Le P'tit Tacot

We visited on holiday after family members recommended and some of the group went back several times. It's a beautiful family run restaurant. The lady doesn't speak much English but she tried and she even gave us a French-English dictionary to yse! The food (we all had chips and/or pizza) was fresh, hot and delicious. Would have gone every night if we'd found it earlier in the holiday! Definite recommend to anyone in the area looking for a relaxed and easy dinner.

We stopped here for lunch on a public holiday when it’s hard to find somewhere open. A € 13.50 menu de jour was available with 3 courses, the quality of which was all ok. A good pate, pork and beans, and a raspberry tart were all perfectly acceptable. Ambience was a bit lacking, particularly inside, and the toilets were best avoided. There are other cafes in the town centre which may be better.

Situated on la Place de la Republique, this lovely bar is run by two knowledgeable ladies who have an amazing selection of local wine (les Jasnieres and Coteaux de Loir) as well as a cru or two of classic French wines from other regions.A great place to visit at any time of the day (the French think nothing of a cheeky glass of white at 1000hrs on a Sunday morning - and why not?) for a glass of something delicious. A tasting with rillettes on toast is a good way to get started and we were able to arrange a bigger tasting among four of us. This loosening of resolve helped with a wine purchase, the cases the following day triumphantly wheeled by Madame across the car park on her formidable trolley!Beer, coffee and soft drinks are also served. The terrace is sunnier during the day than in the evenings but the service more than makes up in warmth. Why aren't there places like this in the UK?

We have been going to La Chartre for last 10 years, previously we chosen another restaurant here, but have discovered L'Estaminet which offers arguably a wider choice of better food far more reasonable price, delivered with a smile. We were made to feel welcome rather than patronised elsewhere(you work it out) for years previously.!!!

La Cantine

Newly opened in La Chartre (March 2016) but apparently the owners previously had a restaurant nearby in Marcon. This one is smaller, only 20 covers but this means it can be managed efficiently by the couple. We visited for a lunch on a Saturday, very pleased to see they continued the 'plat du jour' menu over the weekend. Often restaurants have a different more expensive menu for weekend lunches. But this was no ordinary PdJ menu. Choice of 4 entre, 4 mains & deserts for €13 plus drinks. Even the wine was reasonable...Good choices of traditional/local dishes including a couple of fish. Not the typical steak, confit, perhaps fish... (although nothing wrong with either, just nice to have a different choice. All freshly prepared and well presented. We will return and try their a la carte one evening soon.(Friday/Saturdays, may change in summer season) No hesitation in recommending, good to have another option in the town for eating.

In this atypical frame two chickens welcome you and offer you a gustatory turn of the best local producers. Everything is homemade. WEEKLY CLOSING: on Wednesday

This place is great - really well decked out, rustic French style, and typical, bustling French service. The menu looked good and everything coming out of the kitchen, appetising. The only criticism was the cost of the children's meals (possibly because we had 6 children under 5 with us), but they charged €10 per child for a bowl of spagetti bolognaise (which was excellent and devoured by the children), but €10, even for the 14 month old left a slightly bitter taste in the mouth.Great place to visit - I'd just recommend pre-agreeing the cost of any children's meals at the time of ordering!

This is one of our local restaurants, finally got around to a review.... Eaten here on several occasions now and never been disappointed. Food and service has always been very good to excellent. Lunches are good value and dinners although more expensive offer a much more extensive choice but again offer value from a fixed price menu.Good choice of locally produced wines, either by the carafe or bottle.Always a reliable place and we never hesitate to recommend or take friends to.

Our chef uses the finest, mainly locally sourced ingredients. He conjures up the French classics and gives other dishes an inspired contemporary twist. A gastronomic feast for the eyes and food for the soul. The restaurant is named after local poet Pierre

We visited with a group of friends from our car club. The Mayor had blocked off the town square so that we has adequate parking. The food was very good. The only down side was that my wife and I, because we ordered our steaks blue, we had to wait whilst the whole of our large table had been served. Some of the people on our table had eaten their meals before we received our main courses.
