Have eaten here on several occasions. This time, I chose from the blackboard which offered three or four different plates for each course, in addition to the standard menu. The meal began with an excellent duck rilletes while we waited for our first course, which was croqettes with smoked eel and foie gras ........... I have eaten this combination before as a terrine, but never as croquettes and it was delicious. This was followed by a wild boar stew which was copious, and served in a dark rich wines sauce with mushrooms, shallots and bacon. A perfectly prepared classic dish which was welcome given the snowy weather.Sadly, we did not have time for desserts. The meal was accompanied by a great prize winning Saint Emilion (2009) from a lesser known chateau which was most enjoyable.Great service provided by the owner and his colleague who made us feel very much at home.Strongly recommended.

From outside it looks like a wine shop. Only when you enter and look at the back of the place you see a few tables – I recommend you to reserve before going! The place is open for lunch (for an evening dinner, only Fridays). All the walls have racks filled with wines, champagne and alcohols. The restaurant offers you the choice - food “à la carte” - or a menu of 3 or 5 courses (with or without a selection of wine glasses). In my case, I took a menu of 3. They agreed on me changing the starter. I received a pre-starter (tempura of shrimp with a tartare of salmon), 1st dish: endive and shrimp soup, 2nd dish: pasta with a truffle and cream sauce, 3rd dish: ravioli with chicken; all for 35 €. Desert is not included in the menu and their selection is very limited. All dishes are presented 1st class. Quantities are reasonable. When choosing for the menu with wine – all wines are served per glass, and selected following your own preferences. You can also purchase a wine from their shop. You will pay an extra 12€ for corkage. Website is not updated since a while (for instance they mention 8€ corkage).Overall a good experience with refined top food and very friendly personnel. Being not a connoisseur, should the wines not be in a cooler place for conservation than the restaurant? Soon works (for 3 years) will start in the street and parking will be (more) difficult. It is the moment to try it now!

You could drive by and not notice this excellent Belgian cuisine brasserie located in the outskirts of the city. Prices are fair and the quality is more then descent. The service is outstanding and exquisite, we had an excellent waiter 'Eric' who was more than helpfull, mannered and just awesome. Its hard to found a place, not too expensive, where the customer really feels taking care of. Parking is easy in the one-way street. Reservations during the weekend are i believe mandotary, if you are lucky, you can get a table as a walk-in. Overall very good food service.Hello,Thank you very much for your nice reaction.Best regards,Brasserie The Spoon

Wow, what a great restaurant. The food is of excellent quality, I would say a predominantly French cuisine with a Belgium touch, The owner of the restaurant has a great sense of humor and great knowledge of wines. As a main course I recommend the grilled duck. As it was asparagus season a there were 3 dishes available with asparagus. Advise is to take your time and also make a booking, the restaurant was full for lunch.

I have been coming to this resto on and off over the past 7 years and usually always take the same thing. Steak/Fries/sauce. This time it was not good as the steak was tough and chewy and slightly over cooked when I asked for rare/saignant . Service was also somewhat arrogont. will try somewhere else next time Im in the area.

La Brasserie de la Gare

Hard to find a more authentic, honest brasserie in Belgium. This is the archetypical Bruxelles brasserie like it should be: old train station buffet-style décor; Belgo/French-inspired, elegant yet hearty food; staple dishes like moules frites, shrimp & cheese croquettes, fish soup, all done to perfection; swift, firm & friendly service; optimal price/quality.If you want to know what it was like in the days when it was impossible to get a bad meal in Brussels, come here.( - - Take note: There is one English review, as well as several photos posted here (including one of a menu, and one of a pizza) that refer to the wrong Brasserie de la Gare (one near Brussels midi station). The real one that you should go to, is not at midi, but out of the centre, near the St Agatha Berchem train station. It would never offer mediocre pizzas etc. like the other one does!!)

We read about the restaurant and decided to check it our during our last business trip to Brussels. The place is very conveniently located near major highways, in the industrial area of Groot-Bijgaarden, you certainly need a car or taxi to get there.Very nice welcoming snacks and friendly staff. Classic ambience. The food is very good, on the classic side, nicely presented. The gravid lax salmon and the sweetbread were excellent, cheese comes from one of the best producers in the country and I had one of the best crepes with caramelized apples I ever had.

The food is decent, but they charge you crazy prices for drinks. We paid 20 EUR for each bottle of water (1Liter) and 28 euro for a bottle of wine which probably at supermarket cousted 4! In relation to the spectacle, it is a tragedy. It is so kitch and so badly performed, that at the end is funny. My advice is don't go. The small fun you can have is more than counterbalanced by the bill you will receive.
