For enthusiasm both the kitchen and the service get a ten .The food and presentation is playful. The chef presents light interpretation of some local dishes . The wine paring was good and the waiter was more than generous .Definitely a place to go back to .

This restaurant has been refurbished and looks very nice. Also the food is excellent with a large choice for everyone. Extensive wine choice. The tastes are well balanced. A pity it is quite noisy.

GILLIS restaurant is a high-class eatery with pure meat in the heart of Ghent, on the High Street 23. With matured beef GILLIS positions itself as first choice meat restaurant in and around Ghent.
If you want beef, this is the place to go...from Spanish to Belgian and Italian to Austrian, they have an amazing mix. The beef was certainly the star with the sides lacking. Salad dressing was too vinegary and fries far too oily and some of the worst we have had in Belgium. Server was nice but not too attentive as they got busy. Prices are quite high...good but I wouldnât go again.

Limited choice of mainly local dishes. Food is of good quality, basic taste and average house wines. One waiter, takes long to get your food. Nice setting but misses warmth and creativity on the taste. Prices are quite high, in our opinion you find better food in Ghent for that price. Location is in a quite area in Ghent.

Delightful ambience (if you don't mind opera music) right off the canal in Ghent. We had the 5-course tasting menu, which was really 7 courses as it began with 2 amuses bouches. Every course was more delicious and surprising than the last, and the portions and timing were just right.

We wish you a warm welcome...
This restaurant is in a nice location in the Patershol area of Ghent. It is a charming historic building. On the evening we visited the front of house was run entirely by one very pleasant lady. The menu is on a chalkboard that is brought to the table and then read to you. My partner and I both found this difficult as we had different memories of what was on the menu.We ended up having the four course menu which was really too much food for us. The food was all excellent in particular the main pheasant course was delightful.

Quiet expensive but the fixed lunch-menu is very good price/quality. Very friendly personal and very relaxed. Very nice lunch-menu full off surprises and refinements. You need to make a reservation.

Nice young couple recently took it over and made a great little restaurant!
A very basic but high quality menu, you get the choice of extending the three main courses to five, which we did, and left very content. Especially with the additional wine pairings. The restaurant is exceptionally well run, the food is fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Highlights for me were the langoustine ravioli and lemon sorbet tart.
