What a fabulous place Hotel du Lac is. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. Our set menu dinner was faultless from the buffet starter through Duck a Lâorange main course and creme brûlée for dessert. Our room is comfortable, quiet and tastefully decorated. Hotel Du Lac is a gem.

This has got to be one of the most unexpected delights I have experienced and a superb meal. You arrive and wonder if this is really a restaurant, especially if you have been taken there by some friends and we all had an adventure and tremendous experience. I can now see what some many of the reviewer rated it as Excellent. This is a understated location in the middle of the countryside and within what appears to be a farmyard, which it is. Do not expect anywhere fancy and no need to dress up!They have a limited menu and options, but all the ingredients come from their own farm and ducks or locally. With loved ingredients the food is prepared with love and presented well. The meal was delicious and the experience and delight. i will be back again and very soon, with guests of my won this time. They deserve success.Have a fun evening
So we stopped here today for a snack lunch.Told on entry no chips available as fryer not operating but they could do croque monsieur & salad so we ordered x 7.Well, drinks were ordered and they arrived ok.15 mins later - 2 croques arrived . Eat up we said - don't let it get cold. 20 minutes later the rest of us got ours!Disappointing to say the least as they were not at all busy.So drinks' yes. Ice creams, yes. But order cooked food and be prepared to wait, and wait, and wait.

Well, I am delighted to say that a lovely evening was had yet again and my colleague who accompanied we this time agreed the food was exceptional and tremendous value. The tasty Foie Gras was followed by a perfectly cooked Veal Chop and joined by a very special 1/2 bottle of wine. Sebastian not only cooked but served the meal with great charm and pleasure. It makes a real difference to to experience the personal touches that he always provides the guests.

Having failed to get a seat in high season we were looking forward to a good meal. The restaurant isn't dreadful but it is going through the motions. Service very friendly. The location is wonderful, decor good. Could be a good choice after a day at the beach if the weather is good.

I cannot recommend this lovely restaurant highly enough. From the moment you enter be it for cafe, so,etching a little stronger, or a meal, you are made to feel very welcome. Sebastian the owner, is the perfect host, and his staff are not only really nice, but very efficient. We've been visiting here for both lunch and diner since it reopened under the ownership,of Sebastian, and we also visit his other restaurant in the summer months, it's hard to choose between them! We take friends and family there and their comments are always very complimentary, our French friends like it very much. The menu is not huge and doesn't change very much, your host knows what his clientele want, and he supplies it. Everything is very nicely presented without being over the top. Fancy plates etc don't bother me overly much, it's the quality of the food that interests me, and Sebastian does not fail to please. We travel an hour to get there, at least once a month and usually twice, and this summer we will celebrate our Golden Wedding there with friends, you can't get much better recommendation than that. If you want to eat a very typical French restaurant, with typical French food, supplied and served by delightful people, go on, treat yourself, you won't regret it.

We've visited this place 3 times over the last 9 years, including a New Year's Eve which was very good. The other times however, it has proved somewhat disappointing, especially yesterday evening, when we went for my birthday. It's not easy trying to find an open restaurant on a Sunday evening in rural France; our first choice was closed so we ended up here.My scallop starter was tasty but I suspect the scallops were of the small white reformed? scallop meat you find in bags in the supermarket freezers. It was the sauce which made it palatable really. My husband's seafood starter wasn't so nice and the cold whelks were just ugh!! Moving on, my skate was fine, if a little drowned in the mushroom sauce, but the sauce again was good. My husband's bavette steak, however, was downright tough. The menu had an English translation saying it was "skirt." I use skirt as a casserole cut! I did warn him but he said he try it....oh dear. Tough AND stringy. His French fries weren't very good either. Tasted as if they'd been cooked earlier and warmed up. The cheese board was fine with the pyramid goats' cheese being divine...it just oozed round the plate..fantastic. And I could have had as much as I'd wanted as it was left on the table for me. Dessert again was quite good but the chocolate cake was VERY rich and surrounded by a sickly sweet coulis. My cherry tart was nice as the pastry wasn't too heavy.Service was erratic and long winded as the server was tired..he said so...Not once were we asked if everything was alright and the cheese board was described to me as "those two are goats, the rest isn't!" Hmmmm.....So, good and bad then. Massive portions and good value in that sense but, frankly, we'd rather have less food of a higher quality, served to us by someone who seemed to care more. We'd have to be a bit desperate to go back again.

Owner and family, so helpful. They speak much more English than I speak French. This made it easy to order. Very friendly and the food was just great. When in the area next, we will definitely come here again. Such a nice atmosphere. 5 star thank you very much, it was a plaisir for us too, B.Lefort

From the outside this restaurant gives no indication of the quality of food served. I parked in a small car park conveniently located opposite the restaurant. There is a small lawn in front of the restaurant but as it was December I ate inside of course. Friendly welcome at the bar, invitation to go next door to restaurant. Friendly welcome at restaurant. Starter was much more interesting than it sounds because of the quality of the pastry. I suppose it was a quiche, but it had a good cheese taste and excellent pastry. Then a perfect blanquette de veau. Finallly a bitter cherry tarte. All gave the impression of being freshly made. I think the cost of the menu was â¬13.50. For food of that quality you would pay twice as much in a city.
