Deventer (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈdeːvəntər] ( listen)) is a city and municipality in the Salland region of the province of Overijssel, Netherlands. In 2017, Deventer had a population of 99,577. The city is largely situated on the east bank of the river IJssel, but also has a small part of its territory on the west bank. In 2005 the municipality of Bathmen (with a population of about 5,000 people) was merged with Deventer as part of a national effort to reduce bureaucracy in the country.

Very laid-back place to sit down and have a drink.Old school furniture. Nice terrace to watch people go by and look at the town square fountain, old trees and historical building 'De Waag'. Families and people of all ages will visit it, if they are the relaxing kind. A lot of special beers, fresh or bottle. Each day a 'daghap', dinner of the day, for a small price. Freshly cooked with nearby products of good quality.

This restaurant used to serve a nice meal for a decend price. But what we were served last Friday was not up to standard. The satemeat was dry and a few small pieces. The satesause was watery. The hamburgermeat was OK but the whole hamburger poorly done.Very dissapointed!

Eigenwijs is, as the name suggests, a very unique and original establishment. The menu offers some different dishes than the most lunch places in this area do. Think of a poke bowl, fish and chips, and marvellous American pancakes. Of course they also sell soups, salads, eggs, toasts and sandwiches. Prices vary from 6-10 euros. Although the restaurant isn't open for dinner, they do have snacks and sweets for in the afternoon. The decor inside is very cozy, yet trendy and the outside seating looks out onto the city's main square, the Brink. The staff was great too.

We came here together for a drink because the terras looked real cozy, we went inside because of the cold. The interior was to much. they tried a robust style with modern twist, the waitresses where wearing a 'lumberjack'-outfit. furniture had a lot of wood and furs but also shiny disco lights and fairy like curtains. So in my opinion the interior was waay to much, and just not giving a relaxed vibe (less is certaibly more here). We ordered two chocolatemilk, which where served in less than 30 seconds so it was water based coco (but must say for waterbased good coco, still never beats milk based). It was served witch whipped cream and some caramelchocolate sparkles and 2 small merinque(way to sweet), But it all looked nice. The waitress was also tó friendly. It has the potential of a nice lounge café, but please lose half of the interior. Would go here again though to try a second time. Menu also looked inviting to try, perhaps next time.

We had a three course dinner that started with delicious salmon. Followed by sole with tasteful vegetables and finally the dessert consisting of several preparations, all tasting well. Service is correct, quickly enough. We certainly go back!

Had a group diner here. In general it is ok. Food is tasty, good choice of wines. Friendly service, but this will not be a restaurant I would like to return to. First and foremost, it is typical that someone in the kitchen is inspired by nouvelle cuisine, and tries to make as many strange taste combinations per plate. My starter was a tartara of gamba (I am sure these were defrosted...), radice, avocado cream, puffed rice - 4 tastes in a starter, way too much. Main dish was called veggie lasagne, but it did not look like it. Different veggies decorated my plate, all over the place. Confusing dish. Service in the beginning was slow (served 3x bread as it took a while for the food to arrive, olive oil for bread was perceived as a strange request, and came late). Price was very reasonable. Advice, please keep it simpler, focus on a few tastes, and make those stand out.

This is a traditional French restaurant in the famous "Wall street" of Deventer so the location is perfect. Don't expect innovative or experimental dishes. Quality of the ingredients is high and the courses are very well prepared. Staff is attentive and very friendly. The interior is a bit old fashioned with still lives and such, but very neat.We had the 7-course menu. I was not really impressed by the wines to be honest. They were not very distinct. You can choose between Evian, Perrier or tap water. (If I can give a tip to the restaurant use glass bottles instead of the plastic ones to give it a more luxury touch.)Parking within walking distance and best value is best at the so called 'Beestenmarkt' behind the railway station. (You can park you car even closer if you want for much higher rates.)We were lucky to get the best table (in my opinion) which is the table in the middle at the window at Wall street-side. They also have a terrace, but I saw a lot of smokers there so glad to be seated inside after the aperitif.

Party of 2, one with gluten free requirements, indoor seating, busy and cozy restaurant. The serving staff is professional, quick, while personal. They made us feel like we were their best customers, even though it was our first visit. We needed a gluten free menu and were met with great understanding and variety. Their gluten free bread, toasted and sprinkled with olive oil is to die for, like everything else. A wonderful option when eating out in Deventer.

Six of us in the family had dinner here just before the Christmas holidays. It was during the Dickens Festival held in Deventer every year. Huis Vermeer has three seating areas for their restaurant and we were fortunate enough to be seated in the smallest. It was a cozy room off the central hallway with its own fireplace. The service is impeccable, the food simply out of this world and the wine list impressive. Each course was artfully presented and not too much food. It was everything you'd expect from a highly-regarded, Michelin-starred restaurant. So, where are your judges, Michelin?? Hmmm?
