I have been in Le Mont Dore an February 13th 2013. First of all I did not find you in the city - also not after asking 12 different people. The search function of trip-advisor has guided me to Rue du Cap Chazotte, in front of the church. I was very disappointed that I did not find you so I went to "A Casa Nostra" where I have got without doubt one of the best Pizza's in my life!

La brasserie Le 50 allie une multitude de plaisirs. Vous vous régalerez des mets concoctés par notre chef tout en admirant une vue imprenable sur un paysage à vous donner de l'appétit.
Weâve eaten here a few times as weâre based in le pre bas campsite and itâs 2 mins from our doorstep. There are a few different offerings- the one we enjoyed was the regional cuisine and it was delicious, hams and cheesy potatoes what more can you ask for? Service is excellent and the staff make every effort to help with any language barriers. Beautiful view from the restaurant overlooking Lac Chambon and an open air section for the warmer evenings.Hi @KatW, Quel bonheur de lire une si belle appréciation de notre brasserie Le 50 ! We were locally staying at Sunelia La Ribeyre and came into Murol most days. We ate here on two occasions and enjoyed ourselves both times. On the weekend this is a very busy restaurant, but we were still served quickly and efficiently. There's plenty of choice on the menu, and the children easily found things to eat that they enjoyed, it isn't all pizza either.Desserts were lovely and enjoyed by all! Definitely worth a visit if you're staying in the area. Don't be put off if it's really busy, this restaurant enjoys a very central location in the village and is therefore popular.

We read many good reviews on the restaurant so we wanted to go. We were a group of friends with kids. There was sufficient space in the room but the owner just refused to accommodate us with the simple excuse there was no room for us. This is not a way to welcome tourists!

Celebrated our son's 9th birthday at the resturant. Friendly and welcoming staff, good service and excellent food. Our waiter advised us that we had ordered too much food and assisted us in paring down our selection, he was right as we only just managed to finish the revised order. We had the stuffed peppers and frio grais de maison to start, followed by the truffade, rib of beef, steak and pork rib all excellent and fairly priced. Although we didn't order the tripe with lentils it looked very tasty too.Thank you for sharing your getaway to Crossbow Murolsee you soonThe entire team of Crossbow

Logis Hotel is ideal for holidays, with its unique location, very quiet, down the road Panoramic views of the lake, the beach, Chaudefour Valley, Massif du Sancy
We stayed here last night and had dinner in the restaurant. The rooms are old fashioned in decor but spotlessly clean and perfect for one night. The restaurant has a fantastic view over the valley to Lake Garrabit and the viaduct. The food was delicious, portion sizes were just right, great service, nice wine selection. We had a cold crayfish and king prawn salad and scallops to start, followed by medallions of pieces of veal with THE best cheesy creamed potato I've ever had, a lovely cheese trolley and then a long list of deserts. I had the Beau Site special, meringue shaped like a cepe mushroom with chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream and chantilly cream. If you eat here order it, it's fabulous. Linen table cloths, nice wine glasses, wide tables, attentive staff, it's doing a great job. The hotel is up a hill with not much going on nearby so a one night stopover is perfect. I must admit my first impressions weren't good but they soon faded, it's worth a visit. Also they have a lovely bar area, buffet style breakfast, a pool and tennis courts so it ticks several boxes. Try it.

Pros: Quite countryside location. Picturesque route to hotel through Massif du Sancy with friendly cows coming to you from hills if you make a stop. Free WiFi (not so stable though) & parking. Restaurant. Communicative staff.Cons: Really difficult to find! But the guy from hotel restaurant helped us find the way. Check out at 10AM (on booking.com it's 10-11AM)! Room is rather small, difficult to unpack luggage. No privacy in shower; its just in room with no door. Room isolation: doors are clacking, metal stairs make noise. Typical french breakfast was rather carbohydrate for me especially after evening meal with saucisson, jambon and egg..Hotel restaurant works till last guest (seems it's quite popular among locals) and provides quite good local food (which is quite heavy for me) and wine.

If you want an authentic experience of the typical Auvergnat cuisine in the hinterland of Auvergne, this place is for you! Hard to find (GPS recommended), but worth the search. Despite its out-of-the-way location, be sure to reserve; when we went there was not a free table the entire time we were there, so far has its fame spread. And with good reason. I ordered the potee auvergnate, the local equivalent of corn-beef-and cabbage for the Irish. It consisted of healthy amounts of potato, cabbage, carrots and smoked pork(?) all in a tasty broth. It was far more than I could eat; there was probably enough to share with my wife. The sign says "we do not offer doggy bags" but when no one was looking we brought home enough for another meal. The ambiance is superb as well; you are in a sort of chalet as if in someone's home. -- Despite the plentitude of the meal, we could not help ordering dessert, and were not sorry. -- The trip there over the col Robert and Mont-Dore etc was almost as good as the meal that awaited us. It is not far from Sancy where you can take a cable car to the top of the mountaiin, but we gave up on that plan when we saw the cable car disappear into the mist shortly after leaving the departure point. But we did go to the summit at col Robert with its desolate wuthering-heights like atmosphere. In this area, the alndscape seems to change every few hundred yards or so, so a very varied trip.

We were visiting Auvergne on an untypical day in late May when it was snowing and sleeting and very cold. We stopped here for lunch. The menu is simple, and we decided to have the local fare of Truffade Maison (fried potatoes and LOTS of cheese in a sort of galette or omelette, accompanied by a LOT of sliced ham). It was a huge amount of extremely heavy food. Strangely addictive, though. I wanted to keep eating, even after I was very full. Since the small restaurant was empty when we arrived, we were astonished to have a large group of older hikers appear, seeming out of nowhere, to shed their packs and coats and have lunch. The place was instantly full! Very warm and inviting, and recommended to anyone who is in the area and would like to try the local food.
