Find out what French restaurants to try in Cardiff. The Welsh capital may have begun its life as a Roman fort, but it's since become a bustling city. Where the fort once stood, Cardiff Castle has held court since the 11th century. It remains a central presence in the city, now full of lively art and music venues, hip boutiques, fun bars and modern hotels. Even with so many new and exciting things to see, the National History Museum is still the most visited attraction in Wales. Don't be the only visitor who plays hooky!

Surely chain restaurants aren't meant to be this good? This one is, the food is exemplary, near faultless all round. There was a great variety of dishes between the four of us and the only thing going back to the kitchen were empty plates. The wine list has a great choice, we went for a bottle of fizz, a lovely Cremate de Bourgogne, and a delicious Pinot Noir, probably the best Pinot Noir I have tasted for a few years. This was a truly memorable meal. Staff all knew their food and their wine and were polite and helpful to a fault. The place has a pleasant buzz to it with a feel of a cosy French Bistro. Lovely.

This was the first time I had eaten at cote. The reason I got drawn to go there was how the staff presented themselves and the service they gave. I had a look at the menu and seemed to be a lot of choice which all sounded amazing. The waiter Eithan served me and was very helpful in making choices and seemed to have a lot of knowledge of the menu including food and drinks. The attention the staff took with you was next level and when I realised the person checking up on the table was the manger I felt it gave a real personal touch to the experience.

Who needs space to swing a cat when youâve got a hush-hush reputation as one of Cardiffâs best restaurants? The locals are going to hate us for telling you about this miniscule gem just outside of the centre of town but weâre going to anyway. With just ei
My second visit. Atmospheric place with friendly staff and a reasonable wine list. Starters good with chicken rillette (£9) and a piece of cured salmon with cucumber sauce (£8.50) preceded by an amouse bouche of small pieces of black pudding in what appeared to be a cauliflower sauce with really nice bread. The let down was the bass mains. It consisted of a single fillet with lack lustre noodles and at £22 I expected better. It really did not hit the mark. Never had cheesy chips before and never will again either (compte frites at £4.50) as far too stodgy for my liking. I do not mind tipping for good service. However, the âdiscretionaryâ tip business really gets under my skin as it also includes the wine. The mark up on wines is substantial anyway so why should I tip on their profit.

First time at this lovely little restaurant on Whitchurch Road. It was recommended to us & Iâm very glad we tried it. 2 courses for £16.95 - very good value. We had crab arancini to start (superb) followed by one pork loin roast & one fresh seared tuna. The portions were so generous we werenât able to try the desserts! My husband is Sicilian & is never completely happy when eating out but he was full of praise & keen to return to try the evening menu. Do try.

Went for lunch and had a lovely three course menu. Staff were lovely and food was up to a very high standard. Prepared and cooked by three young chefs who came out and introduced themselves after. Talking about their creations they made sound so simple, well done. It was a pleasure to meet you all, and we look forward to repeating the experience very very soon.
