All in all a perfect dinner. Especially the owners ... service in perfection!!! There was only one waiter and he ran his âassâ off to satisfy everyone. Especially when we told him our son of 4 yrs was soooo hungry he managed to have his plate ready in 5 minutes. out food was super tasty - great pizza!!!

Our visit to this restaurant was a very unpleasant experience. We booked a table for five people two days previously over the phone with the lady who appeared to be the restaurant owner. I can only speak very basic French and this would have been very obvious to the lady owner during the phone conversation. On arriving at the restaurant we received a very frosty reception. With our family of two adults and three children (ages 13, 9 & 7) we were given a stern lecture by the lady for not advising her at the time of booking that three children were included in our group. She indicated in a very unwelcoming and aggressive manner that she would have placed us in another location within the restaurant and she brought us anyway to our table at the pretty terrace at the rear of the restaurant. The lady then indicated that this occurrence wasnât the end of the world. However the evening was well and truly ruined for us at this point. After examining the menu for five minutes and while still recovering from the initial reception by the lady owner it became clear to us that we were not welcome. We then decided to leave the premises. On leaving we made an attempt to approach the lady owner at the front of the restaurant to explain our decision as best we could. She was speaking to another person at this point. However we were not even afforded the opportunity to speak. When she saw us approaching her in the reception area she shouted âAllez, allez, allezâ at us and then a moment later she demanded that we come back as we were leaving the building. We couldnât leave the place quick enough. The restaurant setting was very pretty and the menu appeared to be a tasty one. However it was a pity that didnât get to experience the cuisine. Thankfully this has been the only hostile experience that we have had of the hospitality industry in the south of France in our four visits to the Camargue region.

Had a lovely meal at this Restaurant, the burgers we had were delicious, well cooked, very good quality. The prices are at a higher end scale but you expect to pay more for the views. The only real criticism we endured was the fact that it displayed Mastercard / Visa signs everywhere so you assume you can pay by credit or debit card but it somehow becomes a recurrent feature when suddenly the owners say "No Signal" you must pay by cash ! now fortunately we had cash but I did witness a slight intimidation of some customers whom seem to get bullied into paying quickly when they could not pay by card. I will not return as I found this place lovely but do not like the bullying and intimidation ways of the owner whom seems to demand cash payment before you leave, if this is an issue with paying by card then they should have "Cash Only" signs but they dont as they dont want to lose custom.Be very aware of this Restaurant.

A beer and chips for under a tenner plus the opportunity to people watch from the roadside , a near perfect end to an evening in beautiful Calvisson. We're renting a house in this lovely town, so somewhere equally comfortable to go early evening is a joy.

Working locally for 2 weeks in the region it wasn't easy to find places to eat near the work site. This restaurant is tucked away on an industrial estate and very busy. Hardly looked at the menu as the menu du chef was always excellent and pretty good value at 14.90 euros for starter main and dessert. The guys running this place are friendly and seem to know what they are doing.

I had high hopes for this little family restaurant and unfortunately, I was really disappointed. It seems that this restaurant's speciality is pizza given that there was 4 special on a board an nothing else on the menu. I had the pizza and my wife had Gambas (shrimp) and fries. I can honestly say, and without exaggeration, that this was the worst pizza I had in years. Although the ingredients seemed good, the though was thick, bready and barely cooked. I was like a grocery store pizza. Not the frozen ones, the ones they make at the store. All the ingredients under way too much cheese. My wife Gambas were OK although the bite I took had a grain of sand, which made me wonder if they were cleaned. It was served with fries with a distinct taste of freezer. I don't understand what's so hard about cutting fresh fries, frozen seems to be the norm in France.I was really looking forward to a fresh, delicious, French family meal but was definitely not it and left me really disappointed.

Traditional restaurant, with regional cuisine and Mexican specialities dishes. Open every day. Closed on Thursdays.
We are frequent visitors to this place of homely, welcoming eating. This spring, Le Vaunegol has been taken over by a chef who not only has a wide culinary background but has decided to use the influence of his wifeâs native Mexico to enhance the traditional French cuisine. We have been 4 times in our recent 4 week stay and have never been disappointed with the hospitality and the food. Itâs not a French thing to eat very spicy food so the dishes are tempered accordingly. However, ask for piquant and the real Mexican influence is there in abundance. Spicy without killing the flavours. Go for locally inspired traditional food and you will not be disappointed either. The location of the restaurant is a bit out of the centre but there is plenty on street parking if you need to drive. Otherwise, it is walkable from any part of the village. As in the past, I would recommend Le Vaunageol as a super place to eat, no matter whether you are daring or traditional. Thanks for your comments. We are very happy you enjoyed our food and services. Will be a pleasure to see you again and discover some news dishes.
