Find out what French restaurants to try in Brooklyn. It seems like most folks have a grandmother, great-uncle or some other distant relative that used to live in Brooklyn, or perhaps a friend that lives there now. In the early 1900s, it was a mecca for immigrants arriving via Ellis Island. A hundred years later, young professionals and artists left pricey Manhattan digs for Brooklyn's cheaper and more expansive space. Neighborhoods like Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope, which had fallen into disrepair over the years, were restored and reborn as funky enclaves. Walk or bike over the historic Brooklyn Bridge (or ride the subway) to Brooklyn Heights for a stroll along the Promenade and breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline. Meander through Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens for a taste of nature in the urban wilds. Catch a performance at the world-famous Brooklyn Academy of Music. From the delicious Italian restaurants of Bensonhurst to the Irish bars that line the avenues of Bay Ridge, from the hotdogs and rollercoasters of Coney Island to the bagels and handball courts of Greenpoint, Brooklyn is a state of mind as well as a dynamic community. Discover why, no matter where people move on to, they remain Brooklynites at heart.

Located at the historic intersection of Christopher and Gay Streets, PETITE BOUCHERIE brings a touch of France to the cultured and eclectic neighborhood of West Village. An intimate window-laden, corner restaurant serves French classics pared with curated
Hey, after a while it's really hard to get excited about a restaurant once you've eaten at a lot of them over the years. But this place makes a great exception! It is well worth the price tag for some authentic Parisian style dishes. The place has a small bar and tables along a fairly good stretch of walls with windows. We ordered an entrée split for 4 people as an appetizer "Moules Frites" ($27.00) and it disappeared within minutes - delicious sauce! Our mains consisted of (2) Branzino dishes ($32.00ea)which I could not get over how deliciously they were prepared - sophisticated and delicate spices and a texture that I have never experienced before! An absolute winner! Also, ordered 1 Chateaubriand ($31.00) which is a rarity as I have never seen a Chateaubriand plated for just 1 person and deliciously tender. We also had the Canard l'Orange ($32.00 duck) which was spectacular! We followed up with coffees all-around and the Mousse Au Chocolat ($12.00) everything else came from the bar and wine racks. When we made reservations a few days before we had asked for their best table and we got it. Our server Dinah was simply the best - always attentive and quick to respond.Everyone agreed, we had an absolutely memorable time at Petite Boucherie in the West Village! The expense (and they are up their in prices) is totally forgotten because of the excellence of the experience.

This is a much hyped, very expensive, Michelin starred restaurant. The prices were what I anticipated. The restaurant is genuinely beautiful and romantic. I despise cold, modern decor restaurants and was pleased to arrive in such a warm and lovely space. The open kitchen, often loud and overdone, was very nice here and added some warm theater to a lovely candlelit room. Service was professional, albeit a bit rushed and very young. Our Captain was knowledgeable, although she spoke so fast we could not understand a word she said. Oddly, there was no amuse bouche, which we have come to expect at this level. As a former wine professional, I enjoyed perusing the very deep wine list, although it is lacking in the more realistic $125-$200 price point and unusually heavy in the $1,000.00 plus and plus plus plus range. The food was expertly prepared and of the finest ingredients available, exquisite technique was quite evident, however, everything was just missing...something. The fois gras was as good as many others but at $55, I expect it to be a bit more memorable than others. The rabbit was prepared 3 ways, but had no real flavor in any of the 3 presented styles. The pigeon while traditionally served rare, was way beyond rare and my wife was sure she heard it cry when she cut into it. To be fair, I did not mind it as much, and gave her the saddle of my rabbit in exchange for her still-cooing pigeon. The dessert crepe with verbena ice cream and blueberries was very nice, but, again,we aren't still talking about it. I'm glad we went, It was nice, but there are other, more memorable places, that haunt me to return.

We arranged a meal for 30 guest who travelled, Colm offered a great menu and drinks package. My guests loved the food and they canât stop talking about how good it is, even down to the amazing carrots lol. Lovely shabby chique spot with pieces on the walls with great stories behind them. The other reviewers are spot on! The champignons farcis were plentiful and a great start to a wonderful meal. The moules gratinées were small but tasty. We shared the chicken, fish and beef entrees - one was better than the other! Inventive and unique. The service was very attentive, but not intrusive. The basement space is small and filled with customers, but conversation was easy and the atmosphere was festive. Everyone in our party left with smiles on our faces.

We had dinner on a Wednesday. The food was tasty; the prices were reasonable: the location is convenient to the theater district. The noise level was so loud that we could not hear each other speak. I recommend going to this restaurant at an off hour.
