We noticed this restaurant from the river and moored for the night so that we could go there for dinner. By this time we had been in France for a week and had eaten in some very good restaurants, sometimes twice a day, so simply chose this one for its location and because we could see they had a terrace with river views. Next time we'll choose it for the food!Dinner was excellent in every way and one of the best meals we had on the trip.We could find no fault with the setting, the service or the food. The waitress even suggested a wine was corked before I had tasted it, she was correct, and replaced it immediately. The menu is short but offers a good and interesting choice to cover all tastes. I like short menus as you can expect everything to be fresh and cooked to order. The wine list was also brief but withthe wines expertly chosento perfectly compliment the food on offer (check out their Facebook page to see what I mean). The cooking was faultless the cheese was well kept and the wines were fairly priced to allow for a profit without being greedy. The service from both our waitress and the owner was attentive and helpful. The view of the river was as good as we had expected and our evening could not have been better.Next time I am in this area I will make a detour to eat here again, lunch or dinner,I don't mind. I know it will be faultless because I am sure that the team at La Terrasse Gourmande wouldn't have it any other way.

Classic French hiddem gem in a side lane near the river. Fully booked on a Saturday evening. The huge wood burning fire provides a great ambience. The staff are fun, attentive and helpful. They really made the night for us The menu is just varied enough and there some terrific local specialities - ask the waiter for details. Good value at 30E for entree, main, cheese, desert. Only negative was the Charolais steak with bernaise which had some sinews, was a little tough and not really tasty. Pity as we thought this dish would be a highlight. Cheese plate was a selection from a huge serving tray. Excellent. 100E for the two of with a bottle on wine. We woud certainly return.

Know French or have a translator app. 1 waitress 1 cook in this small restaurant. Good appetizers good desserts mediocre main courses. Good local wines. Not bad but disappointed by mains. Over cooked filets and mysterious vegetables. Had 23.5 euro 3 course dinner. Both mains disappointing, but rest good.Bonjour Steve! ;-)

An excellent well chefed and creative restaurant in Auxerre. I had the most wonderful and different gazpacho, made with a pureed tomato base with a little mussel cooking water added, with pieces of mussels and tomatoes and peppers. A fabulous creation. My wife had escargots, which came 9 in separate, tiny ceramic pots like big thimbles, with a bread-like cover in butter/garlic sauce. Delicious, not exploding with garlic or salt as many do and a different presentation. My duck breast was served on the rare side of medium rare, just perfect, as I ordered, in a very light brown sauce, with pureed carrots and caramelized onions in a red wine sauce set on a potato/egg pancake. Perfectly cooked good product that it was excellent. This was our second time there, the first being 5-6 years ao and it is as good or better than it was then. Another visit calls.

We stopped in to book a table of six for Saturday night. On arrival, we found our wonderful host had gone to the trouble of translating, and printing menus just for us. The food is rustic, and tasty - just as French cooking should be. Portion sizes are generous, and prices very reasonable. Entrees were a choice of different pates and terrines, with mains of duck, osso bucco, trout, pork shoulder, and five different desserts, including the delectable lemon tart. The menu changes daily, according to what is available. You do need to book, as there are only about 30 covers.Thank you very much! It was a pleasure to welcome you for the dinner. Have a good trip in Burgundy ! (We have finished the lemon pie With our employees. ...)10000 thanks again! Perrine & Maxime

We had walked round Auxerre for nearly an hour in the early evening looking for a suitable place to eat. Hungry and exhausted we came across Tarti Croq but it was unfortunately closed until 6pm. We sat on the chair outside and the waitress arrived to open up. She immediately came back out to ask if we would like to wait inside until the kitchen was up and running.Having already served us a drink, she came back to take our order prior to the scheduled opening time. The menu is rather unusual, consisting of various "croque monsieur" dishes and different tartines. We chose something different to give it a try and were most impressed with the dish that was served. This restaurant is fairly new, situated just off the main street, so not visible to too much passing trade, but with its novelty value definitely gives something different to the town and we hope it is a successful venture.

The outside appearance isnât great and the inside decor certainly is .... er eclectic bordering on bland. Three courses are mandatory. My partner chose the salmon, quenelle of scallops, and the pannacotta and was delighted. I had the langoustines, the pork and the profiteroles. The langoustines were really mushy with a huge salad and werenât great. The main courses were outstanding. The quenelle of scallops in a bisque was delicious. The pork also succulent and extremely tasty. The service was bizarre. Keep the knife and fork for entree and mains. No spoon for the bisque. Every course was served to the wrong person. Serve yourself wine. Having said that for 30 E it was overall delicious and great value and we would return.

We (mid 50's couple) went to La Pause Gourmande at 12:00 on a Wednesday and it was fully booked for that day, which probably indicates how good this place is. We boooked for the following day and I'm so glad we did. On arrival we felt the warm welcome through the smiles of our hosts rather than the conversation as our school kid French of 40 years ago didn't allow for much of that. However, we managed to place an order for a chicken breast dish which was sublime. This we followed with a selection of pattiserie and hand made chocolates which were equally as good. If we ever go to Auxerre again, and we might, this place is the first booking I'd try to make.Hello, one thank you for your opinion(notice) which very pleased us, thank you

Installed either in our confortable and stylish town house or on our minimalist garden terrace, you will enjoy a culinary experience drawing itâs influences from the best seasonal local products but also from our own garden treasures or exclusive products
In the very beautiful - but sleeping - city of Auxerre, in the north of burgundy, this charming and elegant XIX century house is a temple of succulent food and French traditional elegance. The menu, prepared with the best local products, including fruit and vegetable grown by the chef himself, changes regularly according to seasons. Great wine list, and amazing cheese trolley ! Service is awesome
