Une ambiance sans façons, un menu copieux et goûteux dans une salle un peu exiguë ...Rien à dire dans le genre mais nous nâavons pas eu de coup de cÅur.

Memorable night for the Aligot served at dinner by the host, various accommodations provided to meet the differing budgets of travellers.

We chose this hotel because we thought it was near the GR65, Chemin de Compostela. It is about 1km away, closer to the train station. It looks like a family business, with pleasant if scant , well meaning service. The town's water is not potable and we only got one small bottle ofineral water for two people.

Two weary travellers - after a long day driving - needed food. And Sunday evening in rural France can be tricky. But I remembered that Aumont-Aubrac is meant to be a 'village etape', which means it has eateries and places to stay for people en route. It did not let us down. Not much else was open, but this hotel restaurant was perfect, and heaving with diners. We wanted supper rather than dinner, so chose omelettes - filled with potatoes and chopped bacon. Came beautifully cooked - fresh and tasty - with a decent size salad too - all for E9.50. Very good value. Staff are swift, cheery, helpful, and clearly were appreciated by some guests who probably were staying in the hotel part. NB - in winter they are NOT open in the evenings - at all. Only for lunch. Probably from October onwards, so take care if you're travelling off season. We'd have lunch there any time.

We really went here for a light lunch. Well we had a great lunch, but "light" would not be the word! Portions are generous in the extreme, and based on 4-course menus, which if you could manage all of that (we couldn't) would be incredible value for money. Highlights included: a fantastic omelette aux cepes - an entrée, but could be a main course - an interesting spinach and prune flan, trout meuniere, and, of course, Aubrac steak. The only disappointment was a very poor bilberry tart - the pastry was inedible. Other desserts looked good though.Service was relaxed and friendly and the bill at the end very reasonable.

A long-established and consistently reliable Michelin-starred restaurant, just minutes from the Viaduc de Millau motorway. The 1960s timber-clad building is no architectural wonder, and the ground floor brasserie is noisy and bustling (although well above average). However, upstairs in the gourmet restaurant, the cuisine is assured, confident and delicious,Prices are fair and realistic, service is prompt and dedicated, and the food is a delight. Highly recommended and thoroughly deserving of its star. Restaurants like this are the backbone of French gastronomy.

Not sure whether this restaurant is called "Chez Camillou" or "Cyril Attrazic" but whichever it's quite possibly THE best food we have eaten in France for over 10 years & we eat in France frequently so we don't give it this accolade lightly! It's attached to a hotel called Chez Camillou & is their 'gourmet restaurant'. They also have a brasserie although we didn't try this on our visit.A range of set menus from â¬58 to â¬110 with an excellent & not stupidly priced wine list. We chose a middle price range at â¬78 a head & a good bottle of white 'St Joseph' recommended by the wine waiter which was superb . Our meal consisted of 5 courses with a couple of amouse bouche's & a pallet cleanser thrown in. Very attentive (but not overly!) & friendly staff & all set in a very pleasant modern but very comfortable restaurant with a great ambience. I won't spoil the surprise by listing all the excellent dishes, suffice it to say that they all used excellent, fresh local ingredients, were big enough portions for even the most healthy appetite & to our amazement every single one we had was perfectly cooked! This restaurant already has 1 Michelin rosette & is priced according. Expect to pay around â¬100 a head with a pre dinner drink & a decent bottle of wine but for a change it's worth it! Indeed in our opinion the comfortable setting, the exceelnt service & particularly the outstanding quality of cooking deserves another rosette. We will undoubtedly return & indeed will probably go a long way out of our way just to enjoy this chef's cooking again. As mentioned earlier he has single handedly restored our faith in French Haute Cusine following several very mediocre meals in recent times at similarly rated restaurants! Well done!
