Find out what French restaurants to try in Alexandria. A short Metro ride from Washington DC, Alexandria, Virginia is the perfect escape from the fast-paced capital. First settled in 1695, the city retains its colonial spirit, with cobblestone streets and historic buildings in the Old Town, Gadsby's Tavern, a restaurant serving food since 1770, and centers of learning like the Black History Museum. For a more contemporary side of Alexandria, wander the streets of the stylish Del Ray neighborhood, where local artists operate boutiques and studios.

We're a Belgian bakery and restaurant serving simple, wholesome and seasonal food. Le Pain Quotidien means "the daily bread" in French, and like our name suggests, we're bakers at heart. Although our handmade, organic bread is how we got our start, we ser
Stopped here for a quick snack. This is not a inexpensive cafe, if anything it seems to be overpriced fo what you get for your money. Food quality was nothing special and it may make its money from unsuspecting tourists. I definitely recommend trying another spot for coffee possibly off King Street which is the Main Street in a tourist oriented town.

At the end of our serendipitous lunch at Fontaine. we were ready to become regulars! The menu is French-accented --crepes, sandwiches and salads in great variety. Everything tastes as it should, and the service people are warmly friendly. Clientele ranges from retired locals to young professionals -- probably not appealing to small children.

With a traditional Belgian menu created from fresh seasonal ingredients, it's easy to see why Brabo is one of the best restaurants in Alexandria.
Great experience, love the food and service! This is one of the best restaurants in Old Town Alexandria and a favorite by many locals. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to impress your date, very romantic and a comfortable setting. We come here for special occasions or simply want a great meal. They offer special holiday menus, definitely popular to those in the know, especially Valentines Day. I would consider this a hidden gem, you won't have a bad meal here.

a French cafe serving local, natural, and organic products for breakfast, lunch , brunch (weekends/holidays) and dinner. To-Go Rotisserie Chicken Dinners nightly from 4pm include a whole baguette & roasted potatoes for $25. Kid menu/family friendly. Homem
This is the place to go for delicious food in the heart of Del Ray. It's a bit upscale, yet delightfully casual with a friendly, family atmosphere. Children are welcome, but as a customer, if your children are too young to enjoy the conversation and exquisitely prepared dishes, you might want to find a less-expensive and speedier alternative. The food is prepared on-site and any dish on the menu is likely to be one of the best you have ever eaten. The wait staff is well versed in how it is prepared and what the specials are that day. This is our "go to" restaurant for special occasions celebrated locally and for entertaining out of town guests.Thank you, Leigh, first for being a treasured regular and, second, for taking time to write this detailed review :-)We appreciate you choosing Del Ray Café for celebrations and hosting special guests; it's a high honor with the number of choices you have in our area and we try hard not to take it for granted. We would like to point out that we are extremely family friendly and have well-loved, healthy Kids' Menus with no item costing more than 6$ for Breakfast & Brunch or 9$ for Dinner. So please feel free to bring any children with you anytime :-) Families with young children tend to come on the earlier side of our evening hours which is why we open at 5pm for Dinner. If you're hoping for a more adult atmosphere when you visit us, we recommend reserving from 7pm on.

A nice quirky restaurant with a large menu of delicious offerings and superb service. HOWEVER (are you reading this, restaurant manager?), for a fine restaurant of this type, the bread (stale and tasteless) and butter (frozen wrapped in foil) was simply awful and not in keeping with the expectation of high quality that a top restaurant should have. And since we were dipping the bread in the very good mussel appetizer, it was something that we were likely to notice. A small issue, to be sure, but something that should never happen in a fine restaurant, and a French one especially.
