Reviews on Fast Food food in Whitby, England, United Kingdom. Whitby is a seaside town, port and civil parish in the Borough of Scarborough and English county of North Yorkshire. It is located within the historic boundaries of the North Riding of Yorkshire. Situated on the east coast of Yorkshire at the mouth of the River Esk, Whitby has an established maritime, mineral and tourist heritage. Its East Cliff is home to the ruins of Whitby Abbey, where Cædmon, the earliest recognised English poet, lived. The fishing port developed during the Middle Ages, supporting important herring and whaling fleets, and was (along with the nearby fishing village of Staithes) where Captain Cook learned seamanship.

Stayed in an apartment just up the road so it made sense to try the local chippy. We were not disappointed. The prices are slightly lower than those in the main town but the quality of the chips, fish and scampi that we savoured were on a par. This chippy has won many awards voted for by locals, which makes sense given its location away from the Main Street. But being itâs only a 5 minute stroll from the swing bridge give it a go you wonât be disappointed.

We had been told that the fish and chips were some of the best in Whitby so thought we would try it. They were very good. Freshly cooked to order so it wasn't sitting and going soggy. Portion sizes were good too. Definitely recommend this chippy!
Whitby Food Guide: 10 Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Whitby
With so many fish and chip shops to choose from in Whitby its hard to know which one to pick but this was definitely a good find. We had scampi and chips with mushy peas and sat outside on the wooden window benches but there are a few tables inside as well. Chips were lovely and tasty and the scampi was crisp on the outside with nice large pieces of wholetail scampi inside, mushy peas were just like I remember my mumsâ! Good selection on the menu, calamari, cod, haddock and all the other usual things youâd expect also an option of a smaller portion of you need it. I would have no hesitation in coming back here next time Iâm in Whitby.

Iâve recently spent a lot of time floating around coastlines, visiting friends and attending weddings in the south west, then spending some time in the north east for family celebrations. Naturally this has involved eating a ridiculous amount of seafood, most notably the classic British dish of fish and chips. And BY FAR the best ones Iâve eaten on my travels was at Eskdale Fisheries. Located a few mile outside of Whitby, this place gives plenty of choice (including a few choices you donât see at most chippies) and serving incredibly fresh produce I absolutely loved this place, as did the wife. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a bite to eat either on their way to Whitby or staying in Sleights itself.

We have visited the restaurant since it opened many years ago and have always had a food review for us but this last couple of years standard's have slipped eg portion control we ordered medium Cod meal deal it was just like a small meal deal yet the week before it was a good portion obviously a different chef portion control needs addressing you get better value from out sales if this happens again I will be going else where as this not the first time.

Visited here as it came recommended by my parents as being the best in Whitby. Was going to eat in but cannot justify £15 for fish and chips.. Whitby certainly knows how to charge for something which a cheap meal at home! Nevertheless, the food is really nice. We tried the fish, chips, steak pie @ sausages all of which were really nice. For the price the potions are quite small. Would visit again though as good quality.

Called into the Greedy pig for a quick bite. The roll did its job and filled a hole. I had the suffing and apple sauce. It was all pleasant enough and no complaints from me. Grumpy Grandad was also content with what he had.

There's plenty of competition in Whitby for those who love their traditional fish & chips, but this one is right up there. Not in the most obvious/ prominent position, but fairly easy to find. The service and the food were spot-on. No complaints. And that little bit cheaper than some more famous places, such as Magpie Cafe.

Really tasty, freshly prepared food and all with a warm welcome. If youâre looking for a non fish and chip option and like Mexican food then definitely go here. Very reasonably priced too. Quite small inside so booking would be advisable. Takeaway also an option. Enjoy!
