Retford is a market town in Nottinghamshire in the East Midlands of England, 31 miles (50 km) from Nottingham, and 23 miles (37 km) west of Lincoln. The population at the 2011 census was 22,013. The town is in the valley of the River Idle and the Chesterfield Canal passes through the centre. The village of Ordsall, west of the River Idle and the East Coast Main Line railway, and the former hamlet of Thrumpton are suburbs. Retford is administered by Bassetlaw District Council in neighbouring Worksop and twinned with Pfungstadt, Germany.

I do like a KFC & they appear to be of very similar quality up & down England.........apart from Retford!!! The service is awful, like youâre inconveniencing them by asking for food & itâs definitely not âService with a Smile!!â The food is as dry as chicken can get. I assume because it has such a bad name in town that no one hardly goes, that it is sat under the lamps for ages. I also went in with a code to get a 15% discount and was refused as (supposedly) the food was already on offer because it was a Tuesday Special. This only happens in Retford!! To be honest, Iâd rather wait until I was in Doncaster before treating me or the kids to a KFC.

The title says it all - the best Chinese Takeaway in town! I've been using it for years. I've tried ALL the others - & there are plenty for a small town - but this is the best.

The couple are lovely and prepare lovely vegan food i could live off their flapjacks my husband thrives on their muffins! they have just brought out their own ' sausage' rolls yum yum ;-) i suggest if you haven't happened upon them before then pop in you will soon be in there weekly like myself haha

Not sure if its changed hands in the last 6 months or chefs, the shredded crispy chilli beef is now soggy, much slower delivery and have got the order wrong on the last 2 occasions, really disappointed

First time visit to this traditional chippy and cafe. The place was clean and tidy with nice friendly staff.We ordered cod and chips with bread and butter, mushy peas and tea, the fish was cooked to order and looked great.When brought to table the meal was very hot, my fish was perfectly white and flakey chips good really enjoyed it, but my partners fish was thinner and much darker which she didn't enjoy at all.So we left with mixed feelings

Buy one meal get the other half price was an excellent offer. The meal we had was Fish & Chips, bread and butter, pot of tea and a bottle of Merlot. This came to £20.65 - an amazing price. Great customer service and friendly welcome by the owner.

Was visiting the area, and fancied a naughty treat to take back to the hotel. Had two large haddock and chips. The young lady who served me was very helpful and friendly. I can honestly say it was the best fish and chips I've had since leaving Scotland 40 years ago. The fish was perfectly cooked, delicious and huge. The batter was amazing - crispy but moist, and not oily at all - a miracle of deep fat frying. I live about 60 miles away from this place, but I'd honestly consider driving up just for more of this. Superb :)

We have been coming here for pizza for at least two years, and in that time the quality has been superb. The best wood fire pizzas I have ever had. Truly delicious toppings. Fantastic fast free delivery! And I have also enjoyed sharing one or two of their decadent Nutella dessert pizzas with friends. Definitely the best pizzas by far! Thank you for your continuing good quality and fantastic product range. We love it.
