It is located 77 km south of Chania, on the southwest coast of Crete and occupies a small peninsula 400m wide and 700m long. The town is set along 11 km of coastline bordering the Libyan Sea. It is the seat of the municipality of Kantanos–Selino and its population was 1,675 in the 2011 census.

The best (or almost the best) crepes you'll find on Paleochora! They also do wonderful plates with ice cream and crepes, yum! Served with kind and funny guys. Almost always crowded but you always find room to eat :)

I have eaten here several times during my annual visits.I always take pork or chicken pita gyros. I also spend time on other islands or on north cost of Crete and compare gyros I eat in Hania...Maleme district or in Kastelli. Unfortunately, gyros here in Everest are filled with big and not-so-tasty french fries, more so than in any place I have tried. Of course this is a cheap trick to get cost down, but those chips did not originally even belong to gyros even though everyone now uses them, more or less.

Nice beach bar with friendly staff. However the only toilets are the ones in the car park and were not great.Thank you very much..... but the toilets in the parking, are not belong to us..... only.... it is the municipality toilets and we are trying our best to clean them all the day.....

.....having had a reasonably substantial lunch. Wandered in, ordered two chicken souvlaki and a half-bottle of retsina. Fifteen minutes later two chicken giros arrived. Pointed out the error, oh, yes, apologies, sat and waited for the two guys behind the counter to eat the gyros we'd ordered and prepare the souvlaki.Finally arrived, very average, bill was 16euro50 so I reckon we paid for the gyros and the souvlaki. We could have had better for less at almost any regular taverna in Paleochora.Avoid.
