Montgomery is a city in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States, settled in 1796. The town was a coach stop on the Cincinnati-Zanesville Road, later known as the Montgomery Pike, with an inn, two taverns, a grist mill and a carding mill to process its agricultural products. It would remain a rather sleepy hamlet until the 1960s when it became an affluent bedroom community for people working in Cincinnati. It retains its historic downtown with many other 19th-century houses scattered throughout the community. It is currently accessed from exit 15 off Interstate 71 and exit 50 off Interstate 275, and it is the eastern terminus of the Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway about five miles northeast of the Cincinnati city line. The population was 10,251 at the 2010 census.

Open since 1957, this diner is a landmark in the area. Root Beer by the gallon, Root Beer Floats, Ice Cream, hot dogs, footlongs, burgers, sandwiches, chili and chips. Limited seating inside, but multiple picnic tables in the back and a playground. Great place for families with kids. My kids are in their 20's. If I said meet me at the Root Beer Stand, they would be there when I pulled in.Thanks! Glad you and your family enjoy it. See you this summer.

Stopped here late on night and was pleasantly surprised by the speed and quality of the pizza. Mine was very thin crust and had a number of spicy toppings. From selection, to being served it was only about ten minutes and the pizza was very tasty.

I tried one of the $4 meals - a burger with thin cut fries - no drink. The fries were very good and the burger was OK but small, not unlike the bargain menu items at other fast food chains. In fact, you can get a cheap burger with fries AND a small soft drink at most places for about $4. Steak & Shake claims to use steak cuts for their burgers but I honestly couldn't taste the difference. Service was fast and friendly so I gave it 3 stars but it's more like 2 and a half. I wouldn't avoid it but I'm in no hurry to return.
