Really disappointing fish and chips. We visited at about 5.45pm with our children to pick up a post-beach takeaway. The shop opens at 5pm so we assumed that the food would be freshly cooked. Not so, the chips were clearly leftover from the day before- tough, chewy and flaccid, rather than the fluffy, fat chips with the crispy edges that you expect in a seaside town. The fish was very tough, over cooked and dripping in a thick layer of greasy batter. The sausages were okay for the children, but of fairly poor quality and the chicken nuggets were rock hard and inedible for a three year old.Fish and chips at the seaside is not a tall-order and should be a real guilty pleasure. Unfortunately the only guilt I felt this evening was for walking straight past the pizza and kebab shop- which was packed with people and smelled fabulous... Ah well, perhaps tomorrow...

Best fish and chips we have had in a long time in a well run, clean establishment
Decided to try castle fish and chips in Criccieth after reading reviews. It has been a long time since Iâve had fish and chips this good, brought back memories. The fish was sweet, the batter light, and the chips soft inside and not soggy. Lovely people serving us, we decided to eat in and rest after a walk .
