While we were waiting for our hotel room to be readied, we stopped here for a late lunch. The place was constantly busy, a good sign. My wife and I each ordered one of their burritos and they were huge! I had their basic burrito for $5.75 and certainly got my money's worth. The tacos are also reasonably priced and good. Good salsa as well. Definitely a place to try out if you are looking for some good basic Mexican food. Only drawback is that they don't serve beer-a cold beer would have been the perfect accompaniment to the meal.

Hardly any of the graduates of Blue Island Eisenhower's class of 1958 still live in Blue Island, a Chicago suburb. My wife and I live in downtown Chicago. And several former classmates live in the south suburbs. So it was only natural for a group of us, about a dozen or so, to meet recently at the popular Steak 'n Shake restaurant at 20091 South La Grange Road in Frankfort for a reunion of sorts. Why Steak 'n Shake for lunch? Because all of us were regular visitors to the now closed Steak 'n Shake that was located on Western Avenue in Blue Island in the 1950s when we were in grade school and high school. Good memories are hard to shake. And that's no pun. We stuffed ourselves with Original double steakburgers, patty melts, Frisco melts, the signature thin and crispy fries and chocolate, strawberry and banana milk shakes. After all these years, the steakburger hasn't changed an iota. It still is Steak 'n Shake's most popular item, two hot-off-the-grill steakburgers with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion and ketchup on a toasted bun. In our travels, my wife and I have visited Steak 'n Shakes from Chicago to Sarasota, Florida, and all ports in between. Have you tried the chili with spaghetti or the chicken fingers with barbecue or honey mustard sauce? They go good with steakburgers.

I haven't been to this location in a long time but wasn't too disappointed by this time. The workers here are usually really friendly but there is one older lady that just seems really crabby all the time. Food was fast and fresh and good as always. I just got an attitude from the one at the register taking my money and she was a much older person.
