Located in the South Pacific more than 2,000 miles off the Chilean coast, Easter Island’s not the easiest place to reach. (If you’re interested, the easiest access is by air from Santiago or Tahiti.) But isolation has helped preserve the 1,500-year-old mysterious congregation of volcanic rock sculptures (maoi) that’s the island’s biggest claim to fame. After exploring the unique landscape, relax on an uncrowded beach and ponder one of the most mysterious places on Earth.

Tumu is 2 a minute walk from our small hotel and was appealing because of its casual open air appearance and patrons including children we took to be local to the neighborhood. The limited menu offered typical Easter Island fare with local beer, ceviche, salads, sandwiches and fish. Service is personal, fun, and helpful. A good place to hangout with friends after enjoying the incredible Moai sites that beckons all to this remarkable and remote place

Since we had a late lunch, we were looking for something simple for dinner. Pizza to the rescue! After shopping main street, we stopped here for takeout. Variety of toppings. Tasted delicious, enjoyed on the terrace of our cabana at Christopheâs with a bottle of Carmen cabernet sauvignon and the sun setting. By the way, LATAM allows wine to be carried on board. We brought ours to Easter Island since weâd been visiting wineries in Chile and Argentina.

Stopped here the first time since it was near our hotel and offered free wifi. Enjoyed the local feel, the beer and pisco sours. Went back again to eat. I had the Hai Tonga Frites. They were amazing and could have fed two. Service was leisurely.

We came to the airport 2 hours early, it was crowded and the cafe at the airport ran out of avocado and couple of the items on the menu. So we decided to walk to this restaurant which is right in front of the airport, the chicken burger and the french fried were just perfect for lunch. We sat on the porch and was able to figure out when we needed to walk back to the airport to board our plan. Very nice indeed.

Had empanadas here for lunch based on the good reviews and the fact the place was extremely busy. We had 2 empanadas, once of which was the wrong order. Both empanadas were extremely greasy, cooked in oil which was obviously too cold. Drink came after the food, about 20 mins after ordering them. Would not eat here again, would rather go without.

Great empanadas at a great price in Easter Island. The tuna and cheese is delicious.
Our first meal on Easter island was at Tia Berta as our cabin host recommended. It was right on the main road through town. I ordered the tuna and cheese empanada and my friend ordered mushroom and cheese. The empanadas was huge! and accompanied by a tasty pinkish sauce on the side which might have been a cheesy tomato sauce. Great crust and delicious with a lot of filling inside. They were so good we went back a second time.

If you are after a big cheap meal that will fill you up then this place is perfect for you. I really didnât enjoy my burger (bacon, egg, avocado). I personally thought the burger was really weird, the bacon was large chunks of fatty pork (I took it all out) and the avocado wasnât seasoned. My boyfriends fries with meat and cheese was ok. Juice was nice and beer was cheaper than most places. Service was good and friendly. One guy was working so hard he was rushing around so much but was still lovely. We returned to try again for an empanada and chips. The empanada was ok but deep fried and lots of tasteless cheese so definitely not the place to come if you want health. Cheap and cheerful but the quality definitely average to below average.
