Couldnât wait to eat fish and chips at the seaside and was very disappointed in what was served. The fish was grey, it wasnât flakey, the batter was soggy and the mushy peas were microwaved in front of our eyes. For the price we paid for four fish and chips for this standard of food was an insult. Dear reviewer,Thank you for your feedback. Dana's fish and chips are sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience with us. We have now been working hard to fix some issues within the company with regards to product quality where fish suppliers have been scrutinized and some of our methods have been monitored, reviewed and improved. As for the mushy peas, we do heat portions to order as we don't believe that they should be sitting around in a pan all day. We are sorry that this does not meet with your preferred cooking and serving method. We are late in replying to reviews on Trip Adviser as we have only recently been made aware of our presence here. It is unfortunate that we could not be made aware at the time of any issues. We encourage all our customers to notify us at the time so our helpful and friendly staff can rectify immediately.

As other people have mentioned, the portions are quite small. It's pretty expensive and isn't very good. The kids meal was ok and my wife's fish was tasty. I ordered a chicken burger but I doubt there was very much chicken in it. It had a flat thin slither of some grey pulp covered in breadcrumbs that tasted vile. I would avoid it and get some in town instead.

It seems that this establishment doesn't change their oil frequently enough. The batter was too brown and sodden with oil,the fish within was tasty but spoiled by the batter.The chips were also overcooked and though edible were too brown and though edible not the best I have had.However,the place seems to have a good local clientele, so all I can say is that they must be doing something right.

on my hols so popped into here on a thursday lunch time, fish and chips were stunning, the 2nd best ive ever had so having it again tonight before we go home cant wait.they even give free chips to oaps at lunch time when you buy fish, never heard of that before, really nice people as well, all cooked to order,fish was nice and white and the batter was really crispy and cooked at the way through without leaving uncooked batter underneath, big chunky chips, couldnt be better.

On holiday in Porlock village, this place is on main road ten minutes away on outskirts Minehead, good quick service, well priced, food was well cooked and nice and hot. Had Chicken soup, ribs, king prawn Cantonese style, fried chicken and mushroom, all very tasty and good portion sizes. Only reason not 5 star was our fried rice was slightly over-cooked, but that's a personal taste so would definately recommend and go again.

Unbelievably rude staff. Lots of other places to eat in Minehead that are friendly, welcoming and able to discuss dietary requirements without insulting and embarrassing you. We definitely won't be going back to the cod shop.Sorry Hayley but this business is a traditional fish & chip shop with a simple menu NOT catering for Vegans. You really should have enquired before being seated in the busy restaurant.

Unfortunately we had broken down while driving through Minehead this day, so we needed some food while waiting by the side of the road. I had called and explained our situation, and was asked several questions to determine our location. Our order was taken - 2 margaritas and 2 bottles of water - and was delivered within 30 mins of the order being placed. It arrived at the side of the road and we sat there and enjoyed our lovely hot pizza. The service was lovely and delivery quick. Pizza was tasty and not a bad deal for the order we made. If needed again, I would return there. Thanks for coming to our rescue in a difficult situation.

Ive had lots of kebabs and this one ranks up there with the best i got a mixed one for 10quid it was massive only thing that would of made it better would of been to have a naan bread instead of pitta. As this was to hard to get any meat in and for the price i would of expected a naan.Thank you for your kind feedback. We are glad you have enjoyed your kebab.Regarding your naan bread. We are cooking an traditional turkish style kebabs and not indian style. So hence we do not offer naan bread.Also here in south west it is very uncommon to find naan in any of the kebab shops.We may consider to add it to our menu if the demand would be high.Thank you

Visited Alcombe Fish Bar this evening to recce for the âroyal visitâ next week...Our guests are fastidious âfish & chip connoisseursâ and we have been checking out the options available in Minehead.Last week we caught a cold at âTomâsâ (NEVER AGAIN... VILE!) so tonight it was the turn of Alcombe Fish Bar.Friendly service, clean premises... AND VERY VERY TASTY FISH & CHIPS!Hot, fresh and good portion size. Unlike the frozen rubbish last week at âTomâsâ.I have a feeling the search for the âbest fish & chips in townâ has just ended!

On holidays so decided on fish and chips for dinner .We purchased 4 lots for us, note that no card payments are accepted. Chips were lovely.However fish needed few more minutes, fish itself was thin, batter was bright yellow, thick and not crispy at all. I usually love the batter bit but in this instance I had to take it off.Shame.
