I believe a change of ownership/management has taken place this year. This has not been a good move! Their timekeeping is atrocious with the waiting area often full of fed up people who have been kept waiting way past the informed time. Food is still ok, poor cuts of meat though and with the change came a price increase. Time to get a bit more organised before people vote with their feet. If you like Indian go for Masala, Pilton St. superb quality food run very professionaly.
Alehouse & Eatery - Barnstaple's original, independent craft beer bar and street food restaurant. Huge range of beers, ales, ciders and spirits. Streetfood kitchen takeovers. Live music and entertainment Bar Gaming
Loved this place as Pressos the Italian eatery. Now a smart bar, selling a range of artisan beers and wines. Great trendy decor. Good choice of micro beers and wines. Not a great choice of food, but I think it will expand. They have a few choice retro gaming areas. The outside space is ok, but smokers have takin it over. A great vibe, probably better in the evening, as we visited Saturday lunch time.

Lunchbox is a Vegan cafe in North Devon from Local lads Sam and Jake. Locally sourced world inspired salads and hot dishes to eat in and takeaway, from West African peanut stew, to Korean slaw.
This place has not been reviewed is a travesty. People should be shouting from the rooftops about having a lovely little hidden away gem serving great vegan dishes. I was only in Barnstaple for an afternoon when my eagle eyes girlfriend saw the magical word vegan on a sign pointing down a back alley.Greeting by two chaps with a passion for their product, it wasn't long till I was feasting. Two size boxes for £5/£7 which you could fill till your hearts content, or until you run out of box!A selection of hot dishes, which i gather change regularly. On this day there was beetroot and fig dahl, peanut stew with potato and kale and a cauliflower curry. Cold dishes were up to grabs too. Quinoa, cous cous, humous, all the usual suspects you'd find in a vegan eatery. All serving boxes and cutlery were biodegradable too, perfect. Somewhere I would recommend if you are in the area. I will be back in Devon next year for a holiday and will make sure to visit here again.
Popped in this evening as I finished work late and kids had things to do so dads taxi was on the road. Everything tasted good. Cooked fresh and if there was a complaint it was we could not eat it all. Truly a mountain of chips. They were really good as well

I stopped in to pick up a quick supper for the family. Fish was tiny, soggy and possibly undercooked. The scampi was awful too. Fell apart. Chips werenât very good either. All really really greasy.Threw the lot away in the end. I know itâs a Tuesday night, but câmon, wake up Barnstaple. We deserve better.

ok for speed, but bland options. need more veggie options on menu. Only Wimpy in Devon ! will try at a later dateHi, thank you for your feedback. It is difficult to have a menu to appeal to all degrees of vegetarianism that is commercially viable. However we do have several meat-free options on our menu. We have available jalapenos, sliced red onion, BBQ sauce and firecracker sauce, these offer more interesting flavour profiles. I hope this helps.RegardsRobFranchiseeBarnstaple Wimpy

Number 1 in the UK! Passionate about the food we serve, we are very proud to hold the award for the Best Fish and Chip Restaurant 2018 and voted one of the UK TOP 10 Fish and Chip restaurants by Fry Magazine! MSC certified and holders of the NFFF Quality
Because we live locally we could be classed as biased however we have tried many fish and chips throughout the country but none can beat the Pelican. Lovely restaurant and friendly service which is also very quick even in the busy times. Recommend that you book because if you donât youâll miss the chance to sample the best.
