Discover Restaurants offering the best European food in Zermatt, Swiss Alps, Switzerland. When most people think of Zermatt, they think of one thing: The Matterhorn. This ultimate Swiss icon looms over Zermatt, first drawing visitors here in the 1860s. The village of Zermatt itself is lovely and car-free, with old-fashioned brown chalets and winding alleys. (Don’t worry, you don’t have to walk everywhere—there are electric vehicles and horse-drawn cabs.) Skiing in the region often lasts through early summer, but when the weather’s warmer, it’s a great time to hike.

We've stayed twice at the Beau Rivage Hotel, but only dined here once. It was a culinary treat. Menu features Swiss meats & fare which is delicately plated at your table by up to three professional wait staff. The veal and local perch were wonderful. The beef rivaled excellent cuts from the USA's finest. Wonderful selection of vegetables all seasoned perfectly. This was one of my favorite travel meals ever! That said, the prices are somewhat high, but what we've come to expect in an expensive country such as Switzerland. With drinks you be looking at $150, but it was worth it to us midrange travelers who splurge at least a time or two as we travel.

Our Restaurant "Zum See" is located in the wonderful namesake hamlet above Zermatt. We will pamper you in the restaurant (70 places) or on the sun terrace (120 seats) of the 350 -year-old chalets in a homey atmosphere, with views of the Matterhorn and the
This is the place for a mountain lunch, on the way down from Furi on foot, a gentle 15 min max descent, much of it stepped. The ambience is charming, the service good, the food amazing. We shared a bottle of Dole Blanc (Swiss Rosé) and ate gazpacho for starters (one of the best ever) followed by beautifully cooked Dover sole muniere with gratin potatoes. How fish this fresh appears half way up the Matterhorn is a triumph. For dessert, we had apricot tart and cream - and Mrs R had the most delicious raspberries. As you might tell from this review, we rate this simple place. Worth coming to Zermatt for. Not cheap, but a real treat.

This little cheese restaurant has a real feel-good vibe. For the restaurant's young team, saycheese! is about more than just food - it's a way of life. The atmosphere is relaxed and service always comes with a smile. The cheese is expertly matured in a la
If you're looking for THE fondue experience, this is the place to go. Jeffery will guide you for the best experience for your family. Try to make a reservation because while we were there, many tables were reserved and a lot of people were turned away. Lastly, don't forget the dessert - chocolate fondue.

As an alpine restaurant, Blatten exists since the beginnings of tourism in Zermatt and it has kept its traditional appearance. Initially, around 1850, it was a little teahouse run by the family. Since the early 1950s, the mother Ludowika has been the host
After completing our Furi loop hike, we opted to hike to Blatten. Finding this alpine restaurant in the afternoon was most welcome. We enjoyed dining on the deck with wine, beer, rosti, salads, all the while taking in the awesome mountain scenery. There is also indoor seating if the mountain weather is less than accommodating. The service was excellent and we enjoyed chatting with the owners. We would definitely enjoy dining here again if we were to visit Zermatt.Dear RoseDewThank you very much for your kind words on TripAdvisor. The food here is excellent and the views unsurpassed. Specialities are the fish soup and some excellent Ravioli best is truffle (black) although there are also great salads with carpaccio and grilled scampi. A great way to spend a couple of hours over a leisurely lunch

Mountain Restaurant
As last year we made sure we passed by this restaurant on one of our hikes. The food is simply delicious. The nice thing is also that you have to hike to get to this place at all and therefor itâs not overwhelmed with day-trip tourists which only use the gondolas. Super food, super service, we will be back!
