"Il Caldaro" is a charming restaurant. The chefs create original, as well as centuries old local Umbrian recipes, using the finest fresh ingredients. This also includes handmade pizza cooked in wood pizza oven.
We having been coming to Caldaro for many years, both at Antognolla and more recently La Bruna and have always enjoyed the food and fantastic service. However, over the last six to eight months the restaurant has lost its mojo, changing its menu and the chef. The portion sizes were reduced and the food disappointing and overpriced. In addition, without Anca, the excellent front of house, service was at times chaotic. So, we were thrilled when we went for lunch recently to see that things seem to be back on track. The menu is seasonal with lovely local ingredients and the high high standard of cooking has returned. With Anca back overseeing the smooth running of the restaurant and staff, we had a delicious lunch and fantastic friendly service.

Calagrana is the best food, service, ambiance and dining experience in the area...without doubt! We have been dining here over the last 5 years (as a couple, with extended family, birthday celebrations and business) and have never been disappointed. Albertoâs food, while Italian-based, is creative and always beautifully prepared and presented. The menu changes almost daily, while retaining everyoneâs favourites as well. The staff, led by Ely, are welcoming, informative, efficient and always charming. Fluent English and Italian are spoken. During summer the view from the terrace is sublime and in the winter months it is cosy and warm. The wine list provides an excellent choice, including many of our favourites. If you donât visit Calagrana during a visit to the area, you will be the poorer!

The Poggiomanente Restaurant is one of the most appreciated in the area and a point of reference for the lovers of quality cuisine. The complex is located in a favourite destination for those who appreciate food & wine holidays in Umbria: truffle, porcini
We arrived as the restaurant, where we have eaten many times previously, was closing due to a change of flight to Rome. The owners reopened the kitchen and the restaurant just for my wife, my 2 granddaughters and myself. We were not hurried and had an excellent meal with 3 courses including wine at a total cost of Euros 85. Cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant and the staff.

Mirko is an inventive chef who wonderfully combines Umbrian cuisine with a more refined international blend. His stuffed pigeon with foie gras is a personal favourite. Excellent taste combined with presentation and a wide selection of wines. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the area. He also arranges special theme evenings. On 31st March it's Bourgogne night which I am not going to miss.

We ate outside in this delightful restaurant with delicious food and charming service. Food is prepared with inventive touches using locally prepared or sourced ingredients. Dishes are beautifully served on lovely tableware and in spite of all this (and extras such as petits fours and a welcoming glass of sparkling wine) prices are astonishingly reasonable. All in all this restaurant has been the culinary highlight of our trip to Umbria.
