Seaside delight Like a white idyllic treasure, just off the immediate waterfront, lies Mandelhuset. The two wooden houses with their green rims and little dock were once an old fash- ioned convenience store. Now it is a warm and friendly restaurant servin
Being familiar with this restaurant, I'm very excited to see the development and direction Mandelhuset is taking. On my last visit I had the spareribs (Ribbeinsspjell). Absolutely delicious served with sweet potato fries which might be the best I've ever had... Mmmm....The location of the restaurant is as central as one can be on the beautiful island Tysnes. It's set up perfectly for people visiting by boat with it's location next to (in the middle of) VÃ¥ge Harbour. When it comes to service it really was good. However - as with many other Norwegian restaurants - a few details could be improved. Wine list should be handed out together with the menus. And the waiter/waitress should also bring the bill to the table. This is after all a fairly costly experience, the full "restaurant service" should be expected. But after all - a great experience. Thank you to Patrick, Chef Linn Mari and their staff at Mandelhuset!Thank you for kind words, we are glad to hear that you are enjoying yourself at Mandelhuset. We will keep up the work with improving ourself, thank you for your tips and feedback. You are allways welcome back :)Best regardsPatrick

...with eyes open, in a time you thought was gone for ever. A taste of the good life. Experience the flavours of bygone days in our restaurant and lose yourself in romantic country-style designs in our interiors shop. Let our cultural garden with its 1500
I have visited Haaheim twice in the past, and will return! Haaheim is situated on the island Tysnes south of Bergen. It is actually a 19th century farm that has been converted into a restaurant and guesthouse. The restaurant and bar is situated in the basement of the main buildings - the bar being in the dungeon like, once kitchen, in the old farm home, while the restaurant is in the basement in the period add on wing. The view is stunning, and when snow is not dominating the landscape outside, as was the case when we last visited, the English rose garden is.From the moment we stepped inside, we were made to feel both expected and welcome. The victorian style restaurant is laid out much as a large living room, filled to the brim with period furniture, antiques and collectibles. The grand piano is not a prop, but is frequently being used by the host. As was his bagpipe, or many of the other instruments the proprietor handles with confidence. The entertainment factor was great yet subtle and of good taste, wether it be musical, a poetic or stand-up. The atmosphere throughout the evening was warm and intimate. The menu was limited, with only a handful choices. I opted for a four course dinner, with a pre-selected wine package. Much of the food is local, as was the case with my game. All was excellent and tastefully prepared - with soul! The wine was equally fine. The price was absolutely reasonable compared to the food and wine served! We will be back, and I highly recommend visitors and locals at Tysnes to pay Haaheim a visit. If you are motoring in Norway, a detour to Haaheim is well worth it.During the summer season they serve lighter meals and pastries indoors and outdoors.

Fantastic restaurant in old farmhouse, with great local tasty food and friendly and welcoming hosts. Visiting this place is worthwhile the extra miles if you travel around Bergen and its surroundings.
