le saint père cuisine traditionnelle du terroir Eric et Isabelle vous accueillent avec plaisir et vous proposent un menu de gout et de caractère au charme traditionnel â¦.
What an interesting little place! Two ladies seem to run the show, and it's a little like you're dining at their house with a bunch of other guests. You're treated almost like family, and there are clearly plenty of people who come here regularly or at least are well-known by the owners. Somewhat quirky decoration with a homely feel. The service is super-friendly and you're put at ease from the start. Discussions about the food and wine are welcomed, although it must be said that during the course of the evening there were a couple of times when the ladies were doing more discussing at other tables than paying attention to the needs of others (this adds to the quirkiness). The meals were a range of standards and a few interesting novelties. But the theme on the plate seemed to be eighties decoration, and although the whole "picture on a plate" thing is a little dated, it was nicely done and gave us another thing to talk about. The tastes were all there and we liked them, and we left well satisfied with our meals. If you're in Tonnerre - or even in the area as we were - then add this to your list of destinations for dinner.

Great food and amazing service in this new restaurant set in a historic converted cellar. Fresh produce and great value local wines. Definitely worth a visit whether a romantic meal, families or groups.

Bistrot situé aux portes du château de Tanlay. Plat du jour et desserts faits maison. Large choix de bières belges et vins locaux de Bourgogne.
We had hoped for more to be honest. My snails were rubbery (I should have remembered) and immersed in garlic butter and my wifeâs roast pork was fairly uninspiring as were the pommes vapeur accompanying it. Desserts were likewise pretty basic. Not expensive however.

We had a superb lunch here from the menu du jour on a Friday. We found the food to be a wonderful use of French ingredients but with a lightness and delicacy that certainly owes something to the chefs' Japanese backgrounds. We were so impressed we came back again on the Saturday, for the regular menu, and were just as delighted - rare to find a restaurant that can thrill you two days in a row. We live in Burgundy ad were interested to find the lighter takes on Burgundian favourite dishes, alongside some wonderful fish dishes. Service was friendly and very efficient, and overall a great experience. One note of caution - make sure you book! The restaurant is small and very popular.

We stopped here for lunch on a weekday and were enchanted by the warm welcome - and loved the modern interior of the old house bridging the river. The lunch menu was delicious, and the waiter's suggestions for wines by the glass to accompany it perfect. The restaurant was full, turning away guests without reservation - so call ahead. During our visit the other visitors seemed to be local professionals and families.
